  1. Franklin Creek Nature Preserve; I'm thinking I might head down that away next weekend (4/30). Anybody ever been to this area? Looks like a nice place.
  2. The Kish in Winnebago Co. is running 2.5ft. high and clarity is very stained. Now last week was a different story but I don't think you care much about that.
  3. At the Blowout this year it was mentioned by (I'm not sure) Don LaBrose about doing some shocking on some area rivers, the Kish being one of them. Would anybody happen to know how I can find out when this is scheduled to happen?
  4. Nope. I'd like to see it. We here in Rockford had a little run-in with Gander Mnt. a couple years ago. They had gotten rid of what little bit of fly fishing stuff they had and myself and a few other's approached them and asked to bring it back but this time for warm water species. All the stuff the previously had was for trout. We don't fly fish for trout in this area, we fly fish for smallmouth bass. They didn't care, they said the stuff just don't sell. Duh! It's like going to McDonald's to get a bucket of KFC chicken.
  5. Make a beer holder that has a long chain with a clip on the end of it so you can hook it up to stuff like your tackle box or any other fishing gear you might have. Kind of like the gas station restroom key chained to a tire-rim. Do this and you'll make big bucks. MILLIONS! Have a nice day. .
  6. I'm sayin'! Maybe there's a neoprene jock-strap on the market that I haven't heard about.
  7. Great googley-boogley! Must be a tad bit warmer in your neck of the stream.
  8. ronk - I hate waders. I wet-wade over 90% of the time when I'm out so I see no use for anything else but neoprene's for the cold water months. I'll be out of the neoprene's and wet wading by the end of April. Also........I don't talk to my wife, how do you think we're able to celebrate our 25th later this year.
  9. I had no sleeve. It was pretty warm on that day and I only have neoprene waders. I make sure I only wear a shot-sleeved shirt and shorts this time of year when the air temp is much higher than the water temps. When I first posted the "River Dance" video someone on here brought up the question on whether or not I was breaking a "man law"? Maybe I am but I'm not silly in the head. If we ever get a day in the 90's this time of year, I'll probably be naked inside my neoprene's.
  10. Reminded me of the days of dunking my arm into a big barrel filled with ice and beer searching for that special can of Old Milwaukee beer.
  11. I was snagged up on a chain-link fence on the bottom, so my arm was in there for awhile. Just so you know.
  12. I had to stick my arm down in the water to retrieve a lure ..........Still cold.
  13. When I head down to the river I'm on a mission. I have goals to meet, gosh-diggity-dang-it! I think smallmouth a good 10 hours a day (sorry if I'm not up to ISA standards), I dream samallmouth while sleeping and at the end of the day if all did not go as well as planed, I make sure I have fun.......River Dance! I don't like the cold winter months and this is why I don't really fish hard during the winter. It couldn't possibly be fun to me. Too cold.
  14. That's a great idea you have there Rob G. I'd be interested in the BassBuggers findings and input.
  15. This is a little bit more tricky when using 21 feet of line to make 7 foot butt and mid-section. Tricky part for me is keeping the loose ends from mating. Practice, practice, practice.
  16. I like the hand furled leaders! I'll be testing this all year long. Thanks!
  17. I really only visit a state park like once maybe twice a year. With a fee? Nope! I'll just go over to Eric's house twice a year and hang out.
  18. I say "NO". Why? I just don't believe that the money will be used for what they say it's going to be used for. I was always told a certain percent of money from the sale of lottery tickets goes to Illinois schools. I don't think that has ever happened. Just like the road thing. Illinois must be the state with the most people who have quit smoking because I'm sure we'll all agree we have the worst roads.
  19. I've always used a tapered leader but now my source is gone. Does anyone tie up there own?
  20. Changing of the clock. The time don't change.
  21. Well I might give it (f & f) a couple more chances but I ain't askin' no-more questions on the fear that Eric my put together another cartoon video. (I'm still laughing at that one) Going to drop the 'toon in next weekend. Suppose to be half-way nice.
  22. This may sound goofy but I like to listen to this song by Rush before spending a day chasing the smallies. This would be neat music to put a bunch of picture to in a fast action type video. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=Q9TF9h7OqrU You can almost hear when to set the hook and when the smallie takes to air.
  23. I'm thinking this Float & Fly technique doesn't work all that well on the Kish or Kilbuck. Struck-out again. Nothing to dance about, that's for sure.
  24. I was looking on Bing maps today and noticed that they (bing maps) are listing names of all creeks on the maps. I like that! Some creeks are fish-able and some I'm sure are not. I could see having a private discussion with someone on these creeks whether the are fish-able or not. Don't want to know any spots, just want to know if they are fish-able.
