  1. You fishing in Winnebago Co. Boone Co., Dekalb Co. or McHenry Co.?
  2. I'm sure most have seen this already but what the hay.....................
  3. Paul - Any kind of a schedule set up yet? Just wondering.
  4. Already in contact, thank you.
  5. Anybody happen to know of any cabins along smallie streams in Indian that might be for rent?
  6. It looks to me that the storms missed the south branch. The river gauge for Dekalb is reading lower than it was reading on Sunday morning before the float trip. Yippy!
  7. Not! I was just angrily stomping back to my 'toon because Jude wouldn't rub any of Tim's sun-screen on my legs.
  8. Here are a few picture I snapped of the Kishwaukee float trip. Jude will post a report. Tim learning to fish from a yak Jude and Tim leading the way Approaching the BCCD/ISA stream-barbs Tim and his catch with Jude and Paul The gang Kishwaukee River pot-hole...... http://youtu.be/OuIc6glUIyY It's all yours, Jude..............
  9. Went out this morning catfishing with a buddy from work and instead of just sitting there watching the tip of my rod I also started casting for smallies with another rod and nailed two nice size smallies with a Hula Popper. So Jude, feel free tobring you Chug-a-bug (or whatever the heck you call it) along. No cats.
  10. Tim - If there's no room bring a friend. I got a canoe you can use. I guess if need be I can just bring the canoe for you and me but I'd kinda like to put my pontoon in, so if you can find someone to come along that would be great.
  11. Pay no attention to the mags. I started off with a kind of cheap starter outfit from Cortland ($120.oo) I have up graded to the Cortland combo which I purchased from Brad Miller @ flybass.com http://www.flybass.biz/products/Cortland-Fly-Fishing-Outfit-%252d-Advanced-Level-Outfit.html I love it and think that's about as much as I need. Now I know a few folks out there will think that statement is foolish but here's the way I see it......... My grandfather (who passed away when I was 1) was a fly fisherman here in the midwest back in the 50's. I'm sure my gear is a bit better than what he had, well I know it is as I still have his reel and still use it from time to time. The mags are focused on the fly by night fly fisherman. It's like a fast food thing.
  12. Well I think that's just silly.
  13. Hey, if you can't fish it's certainly is nice to hear that something you created is catching fish and doing well for fellow fishermen. Congrats.
  14. Jude - Once I saw winds of 25 to 30 mph., I was out. I posted it last night but then deleted the post because I didn't want my negative, crappy attitude towards the weather for this outing to catch on to anyone else that might have wanted to go on this float. I was just thinking of you and your feelings. I too am in for next week.
  15. My bad....... This is the river gauge of the north branch (the float branch) that I should have been posting, Normal Stage: 2.59 ft Flow: 0.527 kcfs*
  16. No reason to do any kind of a dance for this weather report: It's going to be a pretty crappy day. (sorry) Everyday they (weather folks) drop the high for the day, which I think the last I saw was 56 (today it's 54). Now they say it's going to be windier than all gietout. There will be no rain for Sunday but all the other bad elements are going to be thrown at us. 5/13/11 Kishwaukee River Up Date: (must have rained over night) Normal Stage: 6.72 ft (and rising) Flow: 0.925 kcfs*
  17. 5/12/11 Kishwaukee River; Normal Stage: 6.63 ft Flow: 0.86 kcfs*
  18. I'm in. I'll be floating on my 'toon so I'm not sure if I can keep up with you yaks. Kishwaukee River; 5/9/11 @ 10:57pm. Normal Stage: 6.74 ft Flow: 0.939 kcfs
  19. Has anybody tried this yet? http://www.smallmouthflyshop.com/product/rio-smallmouth-fly-line
  20. Well that sucks! I really don't understand why places put rules on these 'toons. The two lakes in my area say that I can use it but I must wear waders to protect me from duck lice. (as I paddle past the swim beach where 5 & 6 year old children are swimming) I just don't get it.
  21. What rule? Where is it written that you can't use a 'toon? I still say if they give you a permit then you're good to go. Get the permit and get out on the water.
  22. If I were you I would test the DPCFP. From what I understand you need to get a water craft permit to put your pontoon in the water, so I say if they give you the permit then your good to go. I looked it up on their (DPCFP) site and can't find nothing that says you can't use a 'toon. Pages 21 & 22 http://www.dupageforest.com/media/files/cms/GENERAL%20USE%20REGULATION%20ORDINANCE%20FINAL%20100609.pdf
  23. I got mine registered with no problems. The stickers do not have to be put onto inflatables but must be on your person at all times while using the 'toon.
  24. Thanks for all the info. I'm kind of thinking now it'll be a bit later in the year when I visit this place. I'd rather visit when all the rivers and streams are running near a more normal stage. Damn this rain!
  25. Thanks Don! Looks like I might enjoy the area whether the fishing is good or not. Nice pics.
