  1. Here's a shot of the Winnebago County Forest Preserve stream barbs on the south branch of the Kishwaukee River. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLfAf4RItuQ
  2. Please see Scott F. ( EPA Decides to Reject Lead...) thread in Conservation and Volunteer Opportunities. (I guess I don't know how to delete this one. )
  3. I'm still in and now I have a nifty new HD camcorder I can break in on this outing. So are the barbs going to be installed already by the 20th?
  4. Thanks! (I guess{?}) and just so you know, I did do a bit more updating to my profile page. I would also like to add that nobody seems to use the "comment" part of the profile page either. I've tried a couple times but can't get no takers.
  5. You probably do catch because I have no idea how to keep them leeches on me hooks. I have two packs of them. What do I do with them?
  6. I'm already working on it Norm...........
  7. Has anybody seen my Jude sign? It's not in my yard anymore. I hope I can remember his name now. Could this be an act of dirty politics? VOTE FOR JUDE this coming election.
  8. I guess I'll just go out and chase some smallies instead.
  9. So how did this come about to be an ISA funded project?
  10. Anybody else going to make this gig? Come on, I'll leave my camera at home.
  11. Count me in. I'll also bring my camera for some pics but as of this very moment I don't think too many ISA members are impressed with my work so no guarantees on how they'll turn out, or what will turn out.
  12. Since we're talking creeks, I thought I'd mention that I did a little wading at Kilbuck yesterday and was very pleased to see that she's running clear. Kilbucks been stained just about all year for some reason. It's a beautiful little creek especially this time of year. I didn't catch crap but I sure did enjoy the view.
  13. I must say, and I ask anyone else that fishes the Kish on a regular basis to chime in, I hardly ever see anyone fishing the Kish. I've noticed this the last few years, and the people I do see fishing either practice catch and release or just don't catch anything. I think a lot of you know by now that I hit the Kish 3 to 4 times a week and when ever I see someone fishing (which isn't often) I always ask how they are doing. In most of those "not too often" cases it's a wade-fisherman that answers with the normal Kishwaukee River response, "Just a few dinks." Anyone else is fishing from the bank and always replies with..."carp","sucker" or "nothing." I can honestly tell you that I can not recall the last time I saw anyone with a stringer and some, or even just one, fish on it. I can probably count on my fingers and toes how many people I've seen fishing the Kish this year and still have a few toes left. So, I don't think the Kish receiving a lot of fishing pressure is the reason it's full of dinks. There's something else going on here with the foliage or something. Maybe some water-willow planting might help.
  14. I thought there were going to be pics of you pulling yourself out? I know where you're talking and I am glad you warned us. Like I said, I was just thinking of hitting that area and the fact that I usually fish alone and also the fact that area gets very little pressure. It could have spelled big trouble for me. Thanks again for the warning.
  15. For anyone on Facebook.......By Jude's niece http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/Jude-Torre-for-Winnebago-County-Forest-Preserve-Board/108481795879213
  16. For anyone that might be interested....... They (WCFPD) are now putting in a canoe launch at Deer Run Forest Preserve. Also, they (WCFPD) have done some bank enforcement within Kishwaukee F.P.
  17. It is a nice fish. Better fish than I'll probably ever catch. My little remark of "calling bull" is just an inside joke I have with another ISA member. I'm just waiting for a reply. He my not reply though because he doesn't believe that a fish that size can ever be caught with a skill stick, I'm sorry, fly rod.
  18. I call "bull"! Look how he's holding the fish away from his body but close to the camera. That's an old trick.
  19. I move quick. I try to release the fish as fast as possible. Really! I run around like a dang fool trying to get that fish back into the water as fast as I can. I use a wading staff, a camera mount, and a foosball rod all in one to take my pics because I've found it to be the quickest way as long as I have a base camp set up in the area I'm fishing. Thanks again Jude.
  20. So I take it Aug. 29th is the official Bash Terry Day. Oh yeah!! Well I'll have you guys know that I'm on the hunt for the monster Kishwaukee River smallmouth (clicking heels together) and as far as me not being as dumb as I look..... Dorothy(Jude) - I thought you said you like my shirt?! I did land 2 dinks later after we split but then about 100 canoes showed up, so my day didn't end in a skunk. Toto (Corey) - "Tandem rig on a 3 way swivel" ? That's like the smart hillbilly way of fishing with more than two poles. So you guys just go ahead and keep trashing me but know this.... at the end of the year I will have landed a bigger smallie than either one of you from my river. That's right Dorothy, I'm going to get you and your little dog too.
  21. Paul - Glad to hear you and your Pop did so well. You probably didn't see me because I wasn't there on Saturday. I hit a stretch early Friday morning, (I'm back to a 4 day work week so I have Fridays free.) didn't have much luck. I had a big fat spider crawling on the back of my arms and neck for about an hour, then I was fishing a pool and lost a popper, tripped on a rock wading, fell and split my knee open, jumped up so fast my camera never got wet, cursed the day and headed for home with nothing to show. Stayed home and did yard work and other neat stuff on Saturday. Sunday morning I had my 'toon in the water by 6am. and fished until 2pm. with only the one smallie to show. It was a tough weekend and it's been a tough year for me thus far. This-morning I woke and thought about my weekend of fishing, then I smiled. Looking back I think I can honestly say (and literally) that I hit rock-bottom on Friday. Things can only get better for me. I noticed Sunday that I had lost all confidence in my ability to catch fish. I'm standing in a river waving a stick. I'm looking foreward to this Saturday. Things are going to get better. I fish good water and I know the Kish well. I've just been have some bad "Jude" luck. Jude - Sorry to hear things didn't go so well for you. NOT! See you Saturday morning.
  22. I spent about 8 hours on the Kish today. The water level for the Kish right now (6:30pm, 8/22) is 6.35 which I myself consider to be about 4 inches over the norm. The clarity is about two and a half feet with a swift current. I know Jude likes it to be a bit lower and with Tuesday being our only rain chance (20% pos.) and then the rest of the week in clear skies I'm sure the Kish will be in the best shape it's been in all year for this wade outing. I'm looking foreward to spending more time on Jude's river, When I was able to call it my river, I did more than just spend 8 hours on it. I caught fish. I guess Jude will have to teach me how to catch fish on his river.
