Those Yellow Signs
-
Years ago, the ISA created plastic signs that featured information concerning catch and release and why it is important when it comes to stream smallies here in Illinois.
These signs were posted by Alliance members at locations where a high amount of angling pressure existed. Examples included dams, parks, and boat launches. The high quality signs included info pertaining to the slow growth rates of smallies inhabiting Illinois streams and also gave tips on the proper release of smallmouth.
Over the years we've been out putting up new and improved signs which were generously provided by the Illinois Department of Conservation. Over one hundred signs were posted in key spots along the Fox, Du Page, and Kankakee Rivers.
Do you know of a spot that could use a sign? Somewhere where you've seen fish mishandled or taken illegally?
Please contact us if you would like to post a sign on a stretch of river that needs it.
