  2. We are about a week away from this outing. Anybody in?
  3. Glad to hear. I did my guide trip today and found the bite not to be all that great. We had a good time of course, but the bite was tough.

  6. 1) No"Tom" is a misspelling of Tim. I apologize for my dumbness. 2) You may bring whatever "cone" you would like, but if you show up with a canoe filled with Rocky Road, I don't think we'll be getting much fishing done. Aren'tcha glad they made me VP? (still trying to figure out what that stands for.)
  7. Thanks for pointing that out. September 24th,Saturday, NW Region Autumn on the Rock River float From Oregon to Castle Rock, hosted by Paul Trybul and Tim Goodman II. This is a good 5 hour float with camping available and also a canoe outfitter [ http://www.eaglesbluffoutfitters.com ] for anyone who may need to rent. We plan to put in at Oregon about 8am. Contact Paul T or Terry Dodge for more info.
  8. Poppers and Chug-Bugs with the spin gear and with the fly gear I've been using a foam hopper. I think the fly gear is better than the spin gear this time of year because you can lay the fly on the water without much splash, whereas a big fat Chug-Bug or popper will splash and spook. Sometimes the splash is good and will entice an attack, but right now I think the easy lay on the water surface is best.

  17. Well the NW Region finally got our first wade outing complete. We started off the day at the Cherry Valley Cafe for some eats and smallmouth talk. Seated at the table was Jude, Pat, Frank, and myself. After chow we jumped in out cars and headed for the Kish north branch. After stepping foot in water, Jude and Frank headed downstream while Pat and I headed up. Pat was tossing the Ned-Rig and I was switching from tubes to tops most of the way up. Pat and I found the bite to be a bit slow, but then I hooked into a brute. Rod bending, reel sing, the fight was on! Stupid catfish. But it was a nice one.... > Jude and Frank caught up with us and said that they were finding some action. Jude was slinging the fly rod and picked up 1 I believe, Frank was tossing the Ned-Rig and landed 3 and a pike. I ended up leading Jude into a little trib where I picked up 1 nice smallie at about 14 to 15 inches. Jude ended up running out of time and and to head back to the car. I then met up with Pat and Frank again on the Kish. After a short break and a discussion on how much time we each had, I decided that if they had the time then I would guide them on the trib. Ended up we each had all day, so up the trib we went. We moved slow and switched the order of the lead person and ended up have a very enjoyable little wade with a number off quality smallies brought to hand. Not sure of everybody's count for the day, I was having too much fun to keep track. More pics >
  18. July 23, Saturday, River Seine with the ISA The Illinois Smallmouth Alliance NW Region will be conducting a river seining event of the South Branch Kishwaukee River at Oak Ridge Forest Preserve, at 10:00am. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 as part of the Forest Preserve of Winnebago County "Get Outside!" program. So Slip on a pair of river shoes (no sandals please) and step foot in water to see what lives beneath the surface and learn what food smallmouth bass like to feed on. This is “hands-on” fun and a fun for all ages event. NOTE: In the event of high water situation, the ISA will conduct a stream side river safety clinic at the same location and at the same time. Contact Terry for more info. I suppose we will wet a line after the event. ISA Members needed to assist with this event.

Just let her know that you're with the ISA. I will of course be at Kilbuck on the 14th. in the PM. Plan on fishing the Kish in the AM., observe the sampling in the PM., stop at work pick up pay check, hit the Kish again. Gotta make good use of a vacation day.
