  1. I drove by Kilbuck earlier in the week to take my monthly pics of the creeks condition. The discharge stream had the blueish tint in it. That would make the second time this year. I'm not sure what it is but I suppose it's some kind of treatment the landfill puts in. I decided to take a drive by the park to check clarity downstream and found that some jerkwater dumped a load of garbage in the roadside ditch that drains into the creek Of course seeing this upset me and I put out a call to a few Kilbuck Creek Keepers to inform that I would be out there on Saturday, April 8, to do a clean-up of the area. The rivers are high so why not? Paul T. (the Senior version) showed up to help out and after swallowing a couple donuts, together we mess cleaned up. Snapped a few pics for Mr. Mike Clifford. Hope these will work...... After finishing up there was of course time to wet a line FPWC has done an outstanding job of posting our signs and making good use of the extra signs they asked me for by putting them in well populated areas for all to see Some items collected were.... steel bed frame, pull out sleeper chair, Jude's Play School fire truck, 2 kids chairs, 2 five gallon construction buckets full of crap, a catalytic converter, TV, and then your usual crap of beer cans, water bottles and such. Thanks to Paul for lending a hand. I really appreciate it.
  2. On May 20th, Saturday, 11am-4pm, the ISA along with the Trout Unlimited Oak Brook chapter will be hosting a fly tying and fly fishing event at the Peoria, IL Bass Pro Store. More information to come later but please mark it on your calendar and plan on attending this worthwhile event.
  3. Had a great time at the Pizza Party. It was nice to see all who showed and talk smallmouth. Pizza was good. Now that the talking is done and over with, it's time to get out and fight the smallies. Hope to see everyone again on Saturday, April 22nd for our NW Region Kish Float.
  4. Combat was also a good show but I thought the Rat Patrol guys we kind of cool.
  5. And by the way.... Pizza and non-alcoholic drinks are covered. The other drinks are on you.

  8. Surprised we have not heard from Pat and Bill yet., or Eric G. I made the reservation for 10 to 15. I'm sure we'll be able to make room for more if needed. Should be fun.
  9. I'll have signs for who ever wants one or two to put up someplace that they think might need one. I think we are good on the signs. Show up for pizza and wet a line afterwards. Or before if you wish. SATURDAY: Scattered showers and thunderstorms possible. Continued mild. High: 56°
  10. Ouch! As long as your over 17 years of age it is.
  11. Thanks! Now if I can just get you to type a complete sentence that states "Terry Dodge is brilliant", then I'll have a whole new signature.
  12. Sign, sign, everywhere a sign.... I think we are good with the signs. No need to meet before the pizza. Just meet and eat at 12pm. I stopped by the forest preserve maintenance building yesterday and dropped of a couple replacement signs. They have already been out and put up our yellow signs throughout the parks. They did ask if they could get about three (3) more signs to put in other place that they thought need them and I said, "HELL NO!" Not really. I gladly handed over 3 more yellow signs. We stood around a talked awhile about smallmouth. Good guys! Any hoot, Let's just meet for pizza at 12pm. If any of you know of a place that you think needs a sign we can get it done afterwards or I could just give you a sign to put up yourself. Again......Pizza first @ 12pm. No signs before.
  13. March 25, Saturday - Pizza Party!! (Yellow Sign Postings) Once again the NW Region will host a pizza party to kick-off the 2017 smallmouth season. *We will start the day off at 10 AM by meeting in the village of Cherry Valley, then break into groups and head out to post a few of our ISA Yellow Signs. After a couple hours of sign posting we’ll meet back (12 PM) in Cherry Valley for some good pizza at... Salamones Italian Restaurant & Bar, 103 S Cherry St, Cherry Valley, IL 61016. Then maybe take a chance at wetting a line if there is any interest. Who all's goin' to this thang? *Not too sure about the sign posting at this point. If there is no sign posting to be done, then meet at Salamones @ 12:00 PM.
  14. From the IDNR website... Registration is for motorized boats. My personal opinion on the Water Usage Stamp is that it is a joke. Up here in the NW Region we only ever seem to get half of what we pay for. None of the retailers who sell the stamp ever have the adhesive part of the stamp.
  15. NW Region Outings are listed on the Calendar (click below) March, April, June, July, August, September. Mark your calendars Join us for some smallmouth fishing this 2017 season. Get Some!
