  1. The Kish has been too high to wade safely so far this year. As a matter of fact, if the levels are not down below 6.30ft. then this wade outing my turn to a float outing. Plus, I don't like to schedule wade outings during the spawn.
  2. August 6, Saturday, Apple River Wade - RSVP Call Paul Trybul for more info and to make reservations, 815-601-0619.
  3. July 23, Saturday, River Seine with the ISA The Illinois Smallmouth Alliance NW Region will be conducting a river seining event of the South Branch Kishwaukee River at Oak Ridge Forest Preserve, at 10:00am. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 as part of the Forest Preserve of Winnebago County "Get Outside!" program. So Slip on a pair of river shoes (no sandals please) and step foot in water to see what lives beneath the surface and learn what food smallmouth bass like to feed on. This is “hands-on” fun and a fun for all ages event. NOTE: In the event of high water situation, the ISA will conduct a stream side river safety clinic at the same location and at the same time. Contact Terry for more info. I suppose we will wet a line after the event. ISA Members needed to assist with this event.

July 11 thru July 22, IDNR will be conducting stream samplings of the Kishwaukee River and it’s tributaries. Contact Terry if you would like to help the IDNR team as they do this scientific study of what lurks beneath the surface. IDNR regional director Karen Rivera and her team will be conducting stream samplings in the Kishwaukee River corridor beginning in mid-July. The team can usually use some help with these samplings in the way of netters. Netters wade behind a boat shocker that shocks and stuns fish to the surface for netting. Karen runs a tight ship and insists on hauling in the most fish possible. She does not like missed fish. The more fish taken the better the study. It’s that simple. All you need is to bring a pair of non-breathable waders (must have) if you would like to help. Breathable waders will allow the electrical current to pass through, resulting in a shock, so please be sure your waders are non-breathable. Karen and her team will supply the nets and whatever else may be needed.

  7. Jude, here is May 28th's rainbow with some heavy light adjustments to the pic.... This angle shot taken from my front yard kind of looks as if the colorful beam of light could be originating from your house. Your not listening to the DeFranco Family again are you?
  8. I too have been trying the Ned Rig, no luck as of yet, but I do plan to stick with it. Scott, did you fish it with a constant twitch slowly pulled back to you, or did you twitch and pause?
  9. Don't worry I won't.
  10. You guys are playing with me. I thought it was a kind off cool pic because of the way the fins are kind of lit up. I also held the fish closer to the camera to see if that trick of making fish look bigger really works. The smallie in the pic taped at 13".
  11. I'm not gonna try to tell you it was intentional. As a matter of fact it was an awful picture. Something I really need to work on is taking good picks while keeping my silly buttocks planted in that kayak. The picture you like so much (feel free to print it and wallpaper your garage with) was a terrible picture. I had water stains all over the lens which made most of the pic look as if it were blurred, and then the whole sun thing seems to be a trick to control while sitting in a yak. I ran it thru a few filters to get it to look the way that it does. The guy at Fotomat didn't even charge me for that pic.
  12. Went out in the kayak with Mr. Tim Goodman II and caught 3 smallies. Water was a bit high and muddy but we had a good time. Tim got like 6 smallies and a cat. All smallmouth were 13" and below. I pretty much stayed in my yak > As far as good looking smallies.... I tend to like this one I caught >
  13. I can do that. You just never invite me.
  14. Would have been an awesome show if not for the crapy weather. All kinds of kayak fishing angler/pros on hand to give clinics, but pretty much nobody showed up and the event ended up pretty much being a paddle party. Some of those guys really have those kayaks loaded up with all kinds of neat stuff. Maybe the weather will be better for next year.
  15. Shorts?! You were wearing shorts?!!! Whadda ya think it's March?
  16. I have not wet a line in 3 weeks. Rivers and creeks are a tad blown out but I still might make it out later today to try my luck.
  17. Okay, I have decided to bring one other chair. Rivers are pretty close to being blown out. Come on out and join me at the ISA tent., go out and try a new kayak just for the heck of it. Bring coffee. If you stay home, you'll have to tackle a couple things on that "Honey Do List". Why bother? Come out and join me. Rock Cut State Park, Olson Lake side. 9 - 5
  18. It is NOT a 20"er, but I'll let the comment pass because I got the "slice" part of it. Not like the whole "IT WAS A DEER!" comment by Jude that went right over my head because I, Terry Dodge, am apparently stupid.
  19. No matter how you look at at it, it was a moose, and the Club 20 measurement is a foul.
  20. I disagree. The club face looks to fall shot of the 21" mark by at least a 1/2". The top of the handle is up an inch from the tapes end. Foul! Makes you wonder if Jude really catches 12 inchers.
  21. When you learn how to measure properly.
  22. Jude, I hope you didn't spend a lot of time thinking this up. Mis-measurement. >
  23. Rivers are high and still on the rise if you would like to join me, BYOC (bring your own chair). I plan to be there around 7:30am to set up the ISA tent. Let me know if you think you might make it out.
  24. May your kayaks be pulled by a mighty Brutus of a smallmouth. Good luck to all.
  25. Nice! If you click on the little gear looking icon on the lower right hand side of the YouTube player, you can adjust the Quality setting.
