    August 19, Saturday - “Lucky Fishing Hat” Wade Outing (Kish) Show us your lucky Fishing Hat. We’ll meet in Cherry Valley at the cafe at 7:00 AM for some B&G, a quick “Lucky Fishing Hat” group photo, and then some good Kishwaukee River smallmouth fishing.

    June 24, Saturday - Wade Outing (Kish) Don’t think for a minute that the NW Region does the same old thing each and every time. This time we are going to mix it up and kick-off this outing at the 11th St. Cafe on the south end of Rockford, IL. at 7:00 AM. in morning. Then we will break into groups and wade fish the beautiful Kishwaukee River. 11th. St. Cafe is located at 6030 11th St, Rockford, IL 61109.

    April 22, Saturday - Float Outing (Kish) Breakout those paddles and wet the tips. We will meet at the Cherry Valley Cafe at 7:00 AM for some breakfast eats and then float the Kish from Cherry Valley’s Baumann Park to New Milford’s Atwood Park. This is an all day trip but there is a halfway take-out at Kishwaukee River Forest Preserve for those who may not have all day. Cherry Valley Cafe is located at 216 E State St, Cherry Valley, IL 61016 ------------------------------------------- After analyzing the conditions for Saturday, April 22, and for the week leading into April 29, I have decided to postpone the 22nd. and roll this float over to Saturday, April 29. Rescheduled for Saturday April 29

    March 25, Saturday - Pizza Party!! (Yellow Sign Postings) Once again the NW Region will host a pizza party to kick-off the 2017 smallmouth season. We will start the day off at 10 AM by meeting in the village of Cherry Valley, then break into groups and head out to post a few of our ISA Yellow Signs. After a couple hours of sign posting we’ll meet back (12 PM) in Cherry Valley for some good pizza at Salamones Italian Restaurant & Bar, 103 S Cherry St, Cherry Valley, IL 61016. Then maybe take a chance at wetting a line if there is any interest. Watch the Forums for more info as this date draws closer. CHANGE OF PLANS.... We’ll meet at 12 PM in Cherry Valley for some good pizza at Salamones Italian Restaurant & Bar, 103 S Cherry St, Cherry Valley, IL 61016. No sign posting beforehand.

    It was a chat group, from the comfort of your own home, on the Facebook Kilbuck Keepers page. Very well attended from people from the Chicago and Wisconsin areas. Using social media to recruit other fishermen and bring attention to the Kilbuck problem seems to be working out very well.

    I am waiting to hear back from a couple people that I have contacted to hopefully hear their input on the matter. I'm kind of thinking it might be best to just meet with the landfill people and let them know what's happening downstream. Maybe they are just not aware, or maybe we can come up with some kind of solution together.

    That's something I need to look into. The EPA has taken samples about 2 miles downstream of the discharge ditch. I have also found in my research that a leachate specialist is probably the best way to go. Not sure if U od I has one of those?
