  1. I'm with Jude. Fly rod - poppers and clousers Spin gear - tubes and poppers. Anything else will just exercise your casting arm.
  2. Is that address on that mail box suppose to read 4089 Hillbilly Ridge?
  3. Paul, Tim, EircG, and I got out and put up about 20 yellow signs around the NW Region. We first met for some breakfast and smallmouth talk before loading up into my bass van and heading out to blanket the area in yellow. We pretty much hit all the popular areas and maybe a couple out of the way fishy looking/smelly areas. We even put forth some extra effort to collect trash before heading to the next location. Some of us were successful at this and some of us not so much. River was running high and cold so no attempt was made to cast a line to water. Very enjoyable day spent with fellow ISA gangsters.
  4. The Kish is way too high for floating or wading. It really doesn't offer too many opportunities for bank casting at 8.84ft. either. It'll be a nice day to post some signs and chat a bit and that's about it. I went out to Distillery F.P. and posted a couple signs today (3/25) and could only find small tight to the shore eddies to cast to. No bites. I tried to cross the river and decided after being washed over a couple stream barbs and being swept thru a few strainers that..... I, Terry Dodge, am an idiot. Just incase any of you out there are unaware of that little fact. Have a nice day.
  5. I don't mind because I don't catch. > (click to view even larger)
  6. If you bring it can we use it? All area forest preserve districts have granted us permission to post signs. Got us all mapped out for posting about 25 of them yellow bad boys.
  7. What exactly are paddle pants? Personally I think waders in a kayak are a bad idea.
  8. Yes, it's either that or Days Of Our Lives and it seems Days has been stuck on the same story line for about a billion years.
  9. I disagree. I see this a a threat to small river fishing in the future. As far as lifting, that's what trailers are made for. Many of todays kayaker's use trailers now. I saw two kids on Judge Judy yesterday fighting over a 17 hundred dollar pair of sneakers, so I don't see the 6k cost being an issue. I agree that it does look cool and I have pictured myself zooming up and down the Kish in it. At 32mph I could probably put in at the mouth at the Rock and zoom up to the Belvedere dam in about a half hour to 45 minutes, but then I think, "So could any other idiot." and that's what worries me. I can see 'em now towing tubers on the Kish in one of those.
  10. I don't like it > http://www.saltstrong.com/articles/jet-angler-kayak/
  11. March 26 (Saturday) at 8:00am. Sign Posting - We’ll meet at L’Eden’s in New Milford. IL 6030 11th Street (corner of HWY 251 and Blackhawk Rd) Eat some morning chow and post some ISA Yellow signs and then probably wet a line. Nice way to learn new fishing spots. Who's in?
  12. It was nice to see all you guys and gals this morning at the breakfast table. We had a nice surprise visit from Paul T and Paul T Sr., the only two who have any luck catching smallies this early in the season. I guess that gives them the right to not to have to RSVP. (is that too many to's?) There was also a spotting of a silver haired goatee wearing sasquatch buying coffee at the service station across the street. No pictures to prove the sighting, but it did come from a reliable source. There ended up being 8 at the table. Jim and I hit a little creek in search of smallies afterwards. No luck with the smallmouth bite, but Jim did end up with a catch of the day.... Owner has been contacted.
  13. 2 hours & 14 minutes to go. (crap!) 2 hours & 13 minutes to go. (crap!!) 2 hours & 12 minutes to go. (crap!!!) 2 hours & 11 minutes to go. (AAUGH!!!!) I'm no Ed. Not sure how he does it. See you all in a bit.
  14. Counted. Funny, I saw your fishing pole while I was out today but you were no where to be found.
  15. March 12 (Saturday) at 9:00am. Breakfast Meet BYOB (buy your own breakfast) at the Cherry Valley Cafe. 216 E. State Street in Cherry Valley, IL. There's an open seat at the table just for you. Sit down with some fellow smallmouth fisherman for some coffee talk and sample the best biscuits & gravy this side of the ol' Mississipp. Good chance to discuss 2016 outing options and plan some hook-ups with the members. Bring a rod and reel, a few of us may head out for some stream time if the weather and water conditions cooperate. Please let me know if you plan to attend so I can make reservations if need be.
  16. A BIG HUGE THANKS to all who helped out. So much time and dedication goes into this event throughout the year and Scott has got it down to an art. Scott, these words fall short of your efforts but are all I can offer.....Thank you so very, very, much. The raffle prizes were top notch, the food of course was as great as ever, and the camaraderie was thru the roof. Great time.
