  1. I just talked my wife into making some of her potato salad for the picnic. If you liked her beef stroganoff you're going to love her potato salad.
  2. MARK YOUR CALENDARS ! This August let's have a picnic ! Saturday, August 11th we'll do a bit of clean up of the Fox river at Glenwood park in Batavia along with a morning of smallmouth fishing. Fly rod, spinning gear or bait casting whatever you prefer. Then our own chef Spiz is going to work his culinary magic on some pork chop sandwiches for our picnic lunch. We'll have some pop, water and the condiments to go along with the sandwiches. Any one that would care to bring something to add to the lunch feel free to do so. I'll probably bring some dill pickles to share. I expect this to be the THE social event of the Summer season so don't be left out. Please let us know if you plan to attend so that we can plan accordingly.
  3. Don't worry Eugene Paddle and Trail will also have kayaks to test drive and I believe there will be some Jackson fishing kayaks. ROD FLOATIE THINGS? What the heck is that?

  8. A very big thank you to the 22 members and friends that showed up in the brutal heat to plant 980 water willow plants in the Fox river today. We got started around 8:30 and were done by 10:00 thanks to everyones effort in the heat. We grilled some hotdogs and sat around and talked fishing while we cooled down as much as we could afterward. A few hardy souls even did some fly casting in the heat [ my car thermometer read 105 on the way home ]. I'll post some pictures after I recover a bit. Ed B
  9. Saturday July 14th Paddle and Trail will be joining the ISA at Jericho lake in Aurora Il for our 3rd annual float your boat outing. They will be providing some different types of kayaks and canoes for our members to inspect and test paddle. If you are at all curious as to what all the excitement in kayak fishing is about this is your opportunity to find out. Should you already have a boat come on down and compare. You can also bring your boat to show off how you have it set up for your own style Paddle and Trail will be there from 8:00am to 10:00am to beat the heat of the day. We will stay and play with our boats as long as there is interest and it doesn't get too hot.
  10. All you will need to bring are your own gloves if you prefer. Being the Fox I would recommend waders, but that is your call.
  11. Let's get as many hands out there Saturday as we can and get these willows planted before the day heats up. For those of you that are not that familiar with the Fox this will be an opportunity to learn from some of the best.
  12. Should have gone with you and Brian. John, Carl, Eugene and I did some scouting and a short time fishing the Du Page. All I got was a couple of blow ups on a top water, The others had just a couple of small ones as far as I know. For the event we had a turn out of 14 members which I was very pleased with all things considered. There was some good conversations going on with good information being shared and future hook ups formulated. My thanks to all that made the effort to show up despite the ominous conditions Sunday morning. Ed B

  19. Eugene Isn't that outing scheduled for next Saturday May 19th? The river could be down by then. Unfortunately I won't be able to make this one, but good luck. Ed B http://illinoissmall...hp?app=calendar
  20. I was there many moons ago although we were in the Spirit of 76 site.In fact that is where I learned how to handle a canoe. The stories I could tell.
  21. The evening started out with a toast to the memory of Don LaBrose and ended with a standing ovation to Scott Ferguson for all of his efforts on the Bronzeback Bulletin. In all eight members gathered to honor the above and enjoy an evening of good food, an adult beverage or two and a casual evening of talking about fishing with friends. I only wish more of our members could have been there as a great time was had by all present.
