  1. Just a reminder now that the season is in full swing to save your used and old plastics and get them to me.You can turn them in at any ISA event and I will see that they get to me for recycling. Ed B
  2. John No thanks are necessary, your safety is far more important than any fishing time.Actually you handled the situation very well and displayed a great deal of dignity in the situation. Eugene,Spiz and Pat H joined John and I on a beautiful morning on Whalon lake to particiapate in the Float Your Boat South event.Eugene brought his pond hopper ,I brought my solo canoe and Jim Jozwiak provided his coosa kayak. We found out that the coosa can be tipped over. The good news is that it was a nice morning for a swim.Don't feel bad John,we have all taken a swim at one time or another The fishing was rather slow under the bluebird skies but it was still a very nice outing. It is a shame that more members didn't come out to take advantage of this worthwhile outing. Ed B
  3. There WILL be a coosa available for everyones perusal. So I urge everyone to come on out and see what the excitement is all about. http://www.reconnectwithnature.org/preserves-trails/Whalon-Lake
  4. I really enjoy baitcasting. I feel like I'm one with the setup. I suppose it's much like a flycaster feels with a good setup that they're really comfortable with That is the most intelligent explanation I have heard in a very long time.
  5. I have it on good authority that there WILL be a coosa there for everyones perusal.
  6. It really would be nice if we could get one of our coosa owners to bring a coosa to this outing. There has been quite a bit of interest among members in actually seeing one and possibly taking one for a test paddle. Anyone interested?
  7. I sure would like to see a nice turnout of members for this outing, this is a great opportunity to check out the boat you may have been interested in trying.
  8. We have two Float Your Boat outings this year to accommodate anyone and everyone who would either like to show your boat or check out what you might find interesting.
  9. Ryan If you can't make Shabbona there is always Whalon lake on the 25th.I would love to see a coosa there
  10. I sure hope that we could have a couple of coosa's at our float your boat events coming up this month.I do believe there is quite a bit of interest among our members in seeing and perhaps test paddling one as well.
  11. Meet at the State Park concession stand Saturday August 13th at 8:30am.From there we will separate into groups and spread out on the river.
  12. There will be a second Float Your Boat event held at Whalon lake near Naperville IL for the South siders. We will meet at the launch ramp at 8:00am Saturday June 25th to compare boats and get in a little fishing while we're at it.
  13. There will be a Float Your Boat outing held at lake Shabbona for our members who live North and West.Meet at the launch ramp at 8:00am Saturday June 18th with your favorite boat for a chance to show your boat and check out what everyone else has there. There will of course be plenty of time for fishing.
  14. I checked with the Will county forest preserve district and they do not allow pontoons on their lakes
  15. Wish I could be there but I will be out of town this weekend.I know that you will do a great job of running this outing and I am sure the fish will cooperate. Good Luck
  16. We had eleven members and guests show up for breakfast and a casual get together on a rainy and cold Saturday morning. There was a lot of talk of fishing in general and some very specific planning of coming trips and outings among those in attendance.Eric's sons Brent and Grant also seemed to have a good time
  17. I have extended an invitation to him,as of now I haven't received an answer.
  18. that's a mental image I really don't want to have!
  19. The breakfast meeting at Harners Bakery and Restaurant in North Aurora in February was so successful that we will do it again on April 16th. We will hold a casual breakfast meeting starting at 9:00am on Saturday April 16th at Harners Bakery and Restaurant in North Aurora.Following breakfast we will hopefully be able to get in some fishing in the adjacent Fox river or the nearby forest preserve lakes should conditions warrant. This will a good opportunity to take advantage of this excellent outing should you have missed the February meeting. http://www.harnersbakery.com/

  21. We had eight members beside myself show up to volunteer on a bitterly cold Saturday morning. In spite of the cold over one hundred and ninety kids as counted by Don LaBrose showed up to take advantage of this program. For a lot of these kids, this was their first exposure to fishing and our volunteers were absolutely fantastic in helping those that needed guidance to get started. In spite of the cold quite a few fish were caught and a lot of kids had a great time. A lot of the thanks goes to our member volunteers. A special mention should go to the indefatigable Craig Holderness who worked the whole morning without even taking a break from the cold. Thanks to everyone that volunteered today, everyone there was outstanding. Ed B
