  5. I would like to extend my thanks to all that came out today and made this picnic such a success and it really was a success. Actually there were 25 in attendance counting John Loebach's wife and myself. My personal thanks to all that contributed a dish to add to the feast.A special thank you to chef Spiz not only for his culinary expertise but for donating the pork chops as well. While the fishing didn't turn out all that well, the weather turned out to be perfect for a picnic. The goodwill, friendship and camaraderie exhibited by all really makes me proud to be a member of this organization. Thank you Ed Buric I will get some pictures up as soon as I can. I know there were some other pictures taken, Feel free to post them if you have them.

  8. We have 2 more confirmed attendees making a total of 15 at this point. Anyone else?
  9. Right now there are 13 confirmed attendees. I don't believe that breakfast was a serious suggestion but should anyone be interested Harners Bakery and Restaurant is not very far away. Personally I plan on spending the morning fishing. The picnic will begin around 10:00 am with lunch being ready some where between 11:00 and noon [this is going to be a laid back informal day] http://www.harners.us/ So far this is what we have been promised 1 corn on the cob 2 potato salad 3 baked beans 4 fresh fruit 5 something? I suggest a desert 6 a veggie tray 7 the bestest ever peanut butter fudge and of course we will provide the pork chop sandwiches and beverages. Anyone else that wishes to join in on THE social event of the Summer, let us know soon so that there will be enough for everyone. Ed B
  10. Saturday, August 11th we'll do a bit of clean up of the Fox river at Glenwood park in Batavia along with a morning of smallmouth fishing. Fly rod, spinning gear or bait casting whatever you prefer. Then our own chef Spiz is going to work his culinary magic on some pork chop sandwiches for our picnic lunch. We'll have some pop, water and the condiments to go along with the sandwiches. Any one that would care to bring something to add to the lunch feel free to do so. I'll probably bring some dill pickles to share. I expect this to be the THE social event of the Summer season so don't be left out. Please let us know if you plan to attend so that we can plan accordingly. You can RSVP here if you like http://www.kaneforest.com/ForestPreserveView.aspx?ID=24
  11. It's now just a week and a day away. Rain or shine we have the picnic shelter reserved so we will be covered [pun intended]. Don't forget to let us know soon if you plan on attending so that we are able to have enough food for everyone.

  13. An oshibori (おしぼり or お絞り?) or hot towel in English is a wet hand towel offered to customers in places such as restaurants or bars in Japan and in Japanese restaurants worldwide. Oshibori are used to clean one's hands before eating, and have long been a common sight in Japan. Cold oshibori are used in summer, and hot oshibori in winter. In mah-jong parlors, the words atsushibo and tsumeshibo, from the Japanese words atsui (熱い?), hot, and tsumetai (冷たい?), cold, are sometimes used to refer to hot and cold oshibori respectively.
  14. Corey had asked me earlier if this was a family friendly event and I said yes of course it is. That goes as well for everyone, feel free to bring along any family members that you wish to bring.
  15. This is sounding better all the time. As I said earlier I expect this to be THE social event of the Summer season

  17. I use 10# fluorocarbon as both tippet and as a leader on braid and I have never had a problem with it.
  18. I had a situation like that in Eastern Wisconsin where a guy came up to where I was fishing and began casting so close to me that he was actually rubbing shoulders with me. The good news was that he couldn't have caught a fish if his life had depended on it. I didn't offer any advice!
