  1. Has anyone ever tried tying any ear-plug poppers? I've been messing around with them for a couple years now and can tell you that they do work and they do catch fish. Some ear plugs work better than others and some ear plugs just can't be used at all. Just wondering if anyone else has tried tossing these things and looking for any suggestions on maybe tying them in a better way.
  2. Okay, thanks. I guess I'll be searching for smallies in the Savanna area then. My Dad wants me to hit the Mississippi with him a few times this year and neither one of us have really spent much time in the area. I'm hoping to run into some nice Mississippi smallmouth. We've done well with the largemouth the couple times we've been but have never hit any smallmouth. Personally I like small rivers, so the Mississippi is going to be a challenge for me. Don't much care for boats either but I guess I'll have to learn. Thanks again.
  3. Can anyone tell me if there is a boat ramp in Galena and can a bass boat navigate this section of the Apple? Never been to this area, so please excuse me if this question sounds dumb.
  4. I only wear the waders when the water temp drops to a point that my marbles don't like.
  5. So here's the deal. My neoprene waders were leaking pretty bad this year and I knew I was going to have to get another pair. I put the leaky waders on today to keep me warm while shoveling snow, so now the story to the wife will be that they got ruined from shoveling snow. She'll feel bad for me and not care about spending the $$$ for a new pair. Ooooh - Hoooooow.
  6. Just to jog your memory....... Just got these off the BCCD Facebook page.......... The men behind the BCCD/ISA Stream Barbs..... ( left to right) Dan Kane - Executive Director Wayne Kinney - Stream Specialist Josh Sage - Restoration Projects Mgr.

  19. Well myself and EugeneC went out today for Bronze Friday and both pulled in a skunk. Better than going out shopping today. It was a bit cool, about 30 - 32 degrees with some strong gusting wind. We did the float and fly in a couple different holes with no luck. I had a clean shaven face this time out. It still didn't help. My fingers lost all feeling which made it difficult to tie on flies. It was nice to be out away from the hustle & bustle of Black Friday. Maybe next time.
  20. Happy Bronze Friday to all members who spend a couple hours today chasing the mighty Smallmouth Bass. Good luck.
