  1. Weather Watch: (The Jude curse is upon us) There is rain and storms forecasted for the area begging April 13 thru April 18. If the water levels should reach a point that I feel may be unsafe, this trip will be rescheduled for a later date. I have been keeping a close watch on the Kish water levels for about 5 years now and know how fast the Kish can rise and how long it will take for the levels to recede. I should know for sure by Wed. April 18, if this is a "GO" or "NO GO". Keep your fingers crossed and kick the crap out of your Jude Voodoo Doll if you have one.
  2. A bit more info from the Rockford Paper........ http://www.rrstar.com/news/x898662058/Friends-of-the-Kishwaukee-River-open-house-is-April-25
  3. Left hand and top of head. I personally think that I got it off of a large weed that kind of grew into a tree that I cut down last week in my back yard. Wife don't believe that though. Of course i had to have gotten it from fishing. Yes wear waders when fishing and I also wear a hat too. When cut down the large weed I had no hat on. After 26 years of marriage I"ve learned not to argue.

Cherry Valley Village Hall, 806 E. State Street, Cherry Valley, Illinois, 61016.
  5. 3 days after Dana Lee's original post/suggestion he writes this........... Thanks for the heads up.
  6. ....and after spraying the infected areas with WD-40, I will then wrap those same areas with duct tape.
  7. I went the mikea way with the Tecnu Extreme. A good friend of mine spoke with a tree doctor and says that the tree doctor uses bleach. I may try the bleach if this Tecnu stuff doesn't give me the results I want. Now that I know using bleach is doctor approved that is.
  8. HELP! I got it some how and now I would like very much to get rid of it. Any tricks that anybody uses out there to get rid of it fast? Fire! I wonder if fire fire will work?
  9. I'm thinking 8am. should be a good time to meet at the cafe. I have added the cafe to the route map (click on coffee cup for info). http://maps.google.c....077056,0.16531
  10. So for all who don't know........ When Jude goes on an outing we have to meet for breakfast beforehand. If we don't then he cries the whole outing long. CherryValley Cafe is where we'll meet.
  11. The N.W. Region has a Kishwaukee River float trip coming up on Sunday, April 22nd. http://illinoissmallmouthalliance.net/forums/index.php?app=calendar&module=calendar&section=view&do=showevent&event_id=561 I wanted to post this early as I will be out of town next weekend (April 13-16) Water levels are at record lows for this time of year with no real weather threats upcoming. The bite should be on and hot (see forum smallmouth reports) The plan for this outing will be to do a bit of floating and a bit of wading. See the float route by clicking on the route address in my signature. The planed route would take about 4.5 hours on a straight float, add in some wading and we are looking at 6+ hours.
  12. WOW! Awesome. Any of those for sale?

  14. I don't hunt mushrooms and I would suppose that some (Jude) would say that I don't hunt smallmouth either. That's fine. But I am not about to sit here and let Mike G's "fungi" comment go unnoticed. HA! Good one. Nice way to start off the day.
  15. Info, as Norm has stated, is better thanks pics. A pic of a smallmouth that leans towards the "dink" size (under 16") is not all that necessary to post in a report. I edited in a pic of my 15 inch smallmouth in my "100% Colombian" report ["]http://illinoissmall...showtopic=9294] only because this smallmouth was caught on a little creek that had a bad year with staining and sediment last year with the draining of a quarry. It's nice to see the creek bouncing back. Any size smallmouth from this creek puts a smile on my face.
  16. Cool! ISA getting a lot of press lately. That's great!
  17. Tim, Thanks. I'll keep in touch or just keep an eye on the forums for new info. Also thanks a bunch for the bag links. I'll be passing those on to the Friends of the KR people.
  18. Hey B-man, What music did you down load? This would be a good song for it.........http://youtu.be/l-EHXPoF5iM
  19. Pat M - That would be great! It always helps to know somebody. I also want to say that I agree with Scott and Rich both. I understand that we have had problems in this area for some reason with posting our signs. I do want to work with WCFPD on this. I do not want to just go out and put up signs and get them all upset about it. I have no problem with Rich's idea and I will see to it myself to take them down after the spawn season. Pat, if you do talk with Mr. Kalousek also mention that when ever possible or where ever possible, I would like to just put our sign on the same post as they have a sign on. That way we won't have to sink on posts, which I'm sure is the problem they have with the whole thing anyways.
  20. Speaking of ISA Signs in this area......... I was reading through the minutes of the WCFPD meetings and found this to be interesting............ Campaign signs on District properties – Randy mentioned that he would like to see the Forest Preserves allow campaign signs. In the past, Tom Kalousek had been approached about candidates putting campaign signs in forest preserves, and he indicated that there was a previous ordinance not allowing them on property entrances. Attorney Scheurich advised the Commissioners that public land is open as part of the first amendment, and voting signs are acceptable. He then outlined the restrictions, and indicated that the size can be regulated. Vaughn Stamm said that in the past the operation staff has been instructed to remove them if they impeded vision. Judy would like to lay this over to the next meeting and ask other forest preserves their policies. Tom Kalousek requested that Attorney Scheurich put together some guidelines for the next meeting. He then indicated that the Rockford Park District’s policy says the candidates can place signs in parks. Tom then said during the last election, the District followed what the County was doing and told people they cannot put signs in the preserves. The Commissioners agreed to wait for Attorney Scheurich’s suggested policy. So if approached about putting up ISA signs and shown the ISA signs and the signs meet regulation standards, then they can't really say no? I never watched Perry Mason so I don't know much about law. Am I twisting things in think we have a right to display our ISA signs?
  21. The Kish gets hit hard by tubers during the summer months. The economy being the way it is today has just made the tube action that much greater. I attended one of the first "Friends of the Kishwaukee River" meetings and presented them with a bag option. ( Uncrushed may I add ) This is a rubber type mesh bait bag that I had picked up at Gander Mnt. (and a couple others as gifts) on sale for $.99. The Friends of the KR had the idea of handing out plastic bags to tubers and also supplying bags on their kiosk for tubers to grab. Of course I told them my concerns of using plastic bags. There are biodegradable bags available that I am looking into. They like the mesh bag I presented and I believe are looking for a supplier. This is a good sturdy, good quality bag. A bag that I don't believe will be left lying around on some island where as a plastic type bag will get filled and left behind. This bag stands 11 inches tall with an 8 inch dia. The top has a 3 sided flap opening that secures tightly with all edges velcro. This little bag holds a punch............ Also there are plans of putting up "Love Your River" signs along the banks of the tube route on the Kish. I have already informed them that the ISA can probably deliver the man-power to put up the signs & post and it would not surprise me at all if a few ISA Catch and Release signs make it on to a few of those posts.
  22. Hey there's an idea! "Swami the Dancing/Wading Clown". I'll also bring some freakin' balloons and tie up a couple Jude-Bugs with 'em.
