  1. I'll be there. Wife might come along. Last I knew Jim R. planned to come and ask if wives were alright. Of course I said yes. This is just a social gathering. It's not a wash. I believe one of these posts has a link to the place of the Biscuits & Gravy. I'll find it and repost.
  2. And does Mr. Graham agree or disagree with what Airflo has to say about the stretching of the fly line? Personally, I never stretch mine. I did it once and it just seemed like a big waste of time to me, time which could have been spent on the river.
  3. Went out today (1/11/13) before work to see if I could hook into a 29 inch smallmouth. Stopped by the Kish and got nothing so I thought I'd run by the Kilbuck and give it a shot. Glad I stopped. The Kilbuck was heavily stained at the southbend bridge, so I drove up to HW 251 to take a look and that area was stained with that blueish/gray tint. Not too happy, I drove the extra 5 miles to take a look off the Rt. 72 bridge. Everything looked fine there. Route 72 is up stream from the quarry that causes the problem. Went to work and called Chuck at the IEPA, he said that he would check it out. I'll post again when I hear something. I WILL NOT go away on this.
  4. Correct. I got two (2) renewal notices (1 for the pontoon & 1 for the canoe) in the mail. The canoe was $5 and some change and the pontoon $15. It's already all been paid so I really don't care about the money, I just want to straight this out with the 'toon before 2016 so I don't get over charged again. I'll try again another day.
  5. .....and that would explain your bad luck. (kind of thinking I'll never post a map picture again. Jeez!) Tim - When I was in the USMC and stationed in 29 Palms, we were banned from going to Tijuana. Once in Florida I poured tequila on a bowl of cornflakes because I didn't have any milk. Breakfast of champions.
  6. The first initial payment, when first registering, is around $15 but reregistering afterwards drops to $5 and some change, or so I thought.

    How much $

How much is canoe/kayak registration renewal? Here's my prob. I had to renew my 'toon and canoe in 2012 and the canoe was $5 and some change to renew but the 'toon was $15 to renew. My wife took it upon herself to to just send the fees in and then asked me a couple days later why the 'toon (she calls it "That Pontoon Thing") was so much more than the canoe? It shouldn't be but no big deal, I'll contact them later and get it straightened out. Today (1/10/13) was the day. Any-hoot, to keep a long story short, The lady I talked with at the IDNR Registration office pretty much said too bad. That's what the renewal cost are going up to anyway. Anybody know anything about that? Still didn't solve the original problem paying $15. I don't care about the $$$, I just want to make sure they know that this is not a full size pontoon boat I have.
  8. We had better stop the direction this is going or poor little Jim S. is going to be hightailing it to K-Mart next time he hears that Jaclyn Smith has come out with a new Line of Dresses. Har, har, har!
  9. Do you ever dress your fly line?
  10. The spouses seem to like this place if any of you are interested in doing that. Little odds and ends of nik-naks to be bought near the eatin' area. This is a BYOB (buy your own breakfast) event.

Due to very high water conditions it has been decided to cancel the breakfast picnic scheduled for April 27. The Kishwaukee River water level will remain at an unsafe level through and beyond April 27. We are discussing rescheduling at a later date. Sorry. Terry Dodge
  12. I thought it was odd to see Eric post on a fly fishing subject. "Photography" explains it. (I thought we had him for a minute there, boys)
  13. Oh my! Whatever should I do? If any Chicago folk plan to make the trip up, don't ride the rails. (that should take care of any problems)

If you have ever wanted to fish the Kishwakee River then you don't want to miss this event. The NW & Chicago Regions invites you to come to a joint event to celebrate the 2013 season. We will meet at Blackhawk Springs Forest Preserve in Winnebago County and enjoy an open fire breakfast and learn the ins and outs of the Kishwaukee River. This is an "OPEN" event, meaning "Fish As You Wish". At this time of year it's hard to plan for much river activities due to weather and water levels. "Fish As You Wish" depending on the water levels, whether it would be bank, wade or float. It's all doable depending on the water levels. Keep an eye on the ISA Forums for updates on this event and for Kishwaukee River water levels.
