  1. you sure run into some winners..haven't heard of that one..took him 40 minutes to ask? just like those guys you ran into last year and said they were you and localyocal..wish i would have seen that one...

  3. Norm must have kept his clothes on for that one
  4. the Kankakee looks like that too, looks like a weak tea color..dropping quickly also
  5. poisonivy.aesir.com has some good pics and good info on poison ivy and related plants
  6. 1/2 shot of Jack, 1/2 shot of Jim, and a paste of Crest toothpaste...take the shot, rub the toothpaste on the area....you will forget the itch and smell pretty good...
  7. with the mild winter we are having, any thoughts on this years spawn ?
  8. swim bait hooks that have the weight already on the hook work pretty good.
  9. started baitcasting with the black max because it was what i could afford..no casting distance except when using 1/2 ounce baits or heavier..more bearings will give you distance and smoother casts..i switched to the quantum code, it has 8 bearings and in my price range ($70.00) and have been very pleased, casts lighter lures and is easier to set up the magnetic brakes..most baitcaster fisherman will tell you that the cheaper reels will make you give up being a baitcaster user..for under 100.00 it is a good reel in my opinion..and yes, i believe bearings make a difference.
  10. not sure if the site is still up, but isn't Jeff a regular at the RiverSmallies site ?
  11. so far, yes..went to the nbc sports site and it does have a tv schedule for fishing and hunting
  12. there are a few duck blinds at the Davis Creek area on the other side of the river but have never seen anyone using them..that is a good stretch of river.
  13. thanks for the replies, that makes sense..it just seems the tackle companies smother us in all these colors when usually the basics is all we need..thanks again scott
  14. just curious: does color really matter when throwing top water baits such as Spooks, Sammy's, etc..seems to me the fish would just see a silohette(sp) floating on the water...have recently been using more of these baits with some success and would like your guys opinions.. thanks, scott
  15. is the concession stand still going to be the meeting place for that day?
  16. i'll check my work schedule and get back to you, most likely a yes though..
  17. finally, scotth has come back to ISA..got caught up in bass tournaments and they are just not for me..back to the creeks and rivers where fishing is relaxing and a place to lose one-self in nature...
  18. for all the Rapala fans, Dicks in Bourbonnais has Rapalas 50% off.....
  19. subscribe to the Tackle Warehouse mailing list, (if your not already) and get 20% off for "Black Friday" sale
  20. the only way this would work is with the honor system..catch, photo, record weight, release...if there were partners for a witness that would be better..could it be done? yes
  21. overall, i have found 20/6 power pro to be very accomadating in most river presentations..fireline holds memory too much and flourocarbon sinks (if your afraid of snags)..tie straight to lure/hook..a leader is just one more knot you need to worry about..does a fish see the line? probably. does he associate it to danger, i doubt it. but that's up to you and your confidence level..i've tried leaders (too many breakoffs)and have found they don't make that much difference so i quit using them. you can use power pro/braid for a couple years on the same reel which will also save you money..
  22. in my opinion, no. some may disagree, but i have fished lakes and rivers and basically use the same baits and have had success equally. now, there are favorites i use in the river: buzzbaits, spinnerbaits and crankbaits, but basically, any bait will work at the right time, the right place and the right presentation.

Blue jays have been quite abundant lately along the river, i consider them a "fall bird"..water is clearing, wildlife in general seem to be more active right now..Fall is probably my favorite time of year..and it is getting close.
  24. with the downpours we had this afternoon and more tonight and saturday, wading definitely out of the question, some shoreline fishing maybe at the state park or rt. 113 areas. Norm could probably give more detail though low enough for me is knee high..
