  1. 50.00 fine, a slap on the wrist. pathetic.
  2. YES what they were dumping was an acid based chemical, a South Elgin recycling plant (D & Y recyling)was the plant it came from. they were there illegally to begin with as they didn't have an operating license. however they cannot file criminal charges, but ONLY A 50.OO FINE......just search "fox river fish kill" and you can see the whole story... and you sir (no offense) are to naive....
  3. they were caught "red handed" so that's pretty much enough evidence i would think..anything dumped in the water systems that kills that quick can't be good..
  4. seen this on WGN news at 11am. figured it would get on here soon enough. some people, i don't know, you just can't explain it.. have they figured out the chemical yet? maybe those 2 should be made to take a bath in it themselves..
  5. been on their website, look like quality rods, they have reels also. i do not own one however, (yet)..they have reviews on the site also.
  6. do what you feel comfortable with. 23" smallie probably isn't going to get much bigger anyway, maybe a couple inches and like you said, past its prime for spawning/reproduction. mount affordability, i would let it go,but if you can afford a mount, go for it..i have a 25# northern mounted and my mom has a 4# smallie mounted from the 80's from Wisconsin..but mounts were cheaper then.
  7. have no complaints using power pro. all i use now, stuff lasts forever.
  8. or..if they bring the styrofoam one back and have it filled at a discount. either way would be a good idea. don't know how many i've picked along the banks. they are a little dirty, but could probably be reused, after all, they are holding dirt and worms anyway.
  9. yeah, i've heard Powerton has some good sized smallmouth. going to Braidwood in a couple weeks to try some new baits my friend makes, will let you guys know how it goes.. scott
  10. anyone ever fish Braidwood cooling lake for smallmouth?
  11. abu garcia black max bait caster and berkley m/h 7' shock rod..the bait caster is for left retrieve so have to take that back cause i cast left and reel right. (but i get to go to Cabelas to do it, he,he,he..)
  12. Beautiful, that song compliments the video completely, very nice job Mike.
  13. i wanted a 7' mh spinning, couldn't find one in town, didn't want to get one online (want to see/feel it before buying it).had a lightning rod 7' mh casting rod i didn't use. cut 3" off handle, sanded it smooth and put a rubber chair leg cap on it. took the first 2 guides off (casting rod guides too small) and put larger guides on homemade style, nothing professional by any means but they are strong and work fine..filed the "trigger" off the handle and i had my 7' mh spinning rod...works good for crankin' and spinnerbatin'.
  14. this weekend might be the last "warm one" of the year. definitely going to get out and enjoy it..and NOT shopping either..
  15. insert twilight zone song here _______....on a serious note, hope everything is ok..
  16. interesting, he's "gone" on the other site too..quite the quandry.
  17. berkley amp spinning 6'6" medium w/okuma stratus 30 w/power pro 15/4
  18. first thing that popped in my head when i seen it was COTTON CANDY. so i guess that is my entry.. yes it is a nice looking jig.
  19. just my 2 lincolns: my waders have the sock feet, i went to walmart, got the ozark trail hiking boot (very light) 1 size bigger than i usually wear. work great for me, got them 2 years ago and still going strong, dry them out and use them for yard work also...by the way..........they only cost 20 bucks..
  20. oh, i agree..but, i bank fish 99% of the time and do alot of hiking through brambles, briars, over log jams, etc., so 70.00 is about as much i want to spend on a rod. if i can get 2 for 70.00, hey, i'm all for that..and i won't cry so much if it breaks. i use, right now, berkley lightning rods, but thought these acadias might be a bit stiffer for the action (from reviews)..
  21. anyone ever check out acadiasports.com? f-series rods (assorted sizes) buy one at 69.99 and get one free..not to familiar with this brand, but sounds like a good deal..
  22. i would have to agree, i use power pro for everything and have had no issues with slippage and you can turn over rocks with that stuff..i tie directly to the lure, no leaders.
  23. so if we say that prayer, we will be enriched with more fish caught?
