i'm gonna keep my comments to myself, however, i will pick the 'brownie gal'.
  6. hey guys, it was good to meet you and put the faces with the posts. looks like we did a good job today. lots of garbage picked up. still can't believe how people can have no conscience and just litter lay. did get some fishing in, caught a couple small ones on a buzzbait, lots of people fishing today, too many for my taste.. will probably get out in the a.m. again. chatted with Norm and Al Taylor for a while after lunch, a very learning experience.. scott
  7. seem some at Dick's. these were made by YUM. 4 baits for 6.99.
  8. heard some good things about lucky craft sammys (walk the dog type bait) today. went to the local dick's sporting goods and found they were 17.99 (ouch)..however, did find some identical looking baits from Matzuo for......2.99 !!!! will they work the same? will they catch fish like the 17 dollar sammy? i don't know, but for 3 bucks, i'm willing to find out...
  9. should be a beautiful day for cleanin' & fishin', hope there's a good turnout... haven't been able to get out past few days, how's the fishing conditions look..?
  10. had one do a fly through our yard the other day, missed all available targets. was quite a sight though to see him swoop down and try..made me jump as he came out of nowhere.
  11. do you guys swear by these hula grubs? cause i've got a 25 dollar gift card from dicks and thought about gearing up with these things...any tips on color, hook size, weights/no weights.. thanks, scott
  12. yes, fall starts september 22 (equinox wise), however i think mother nature may have different ideas on when it starts.. as this year, temps are unseasonably cool and they will most likely stay that way the way it looks. i like to watch nature this time of year. it can tell you a lot about the upcoming seasons. squirrels around our place are gathering like crazy..as far as setting september as a summer pattern? at least this year, i'm not to sure about that, temps at night have been in the 40's/low 50's. i don't know but maybe a fall pattern might be closer than what we think?
  13. alright, sounds good. i'll see what i can do. i've never been to one of these, do i bring anything? do you guys wear waders?
  14. do you have to be an ISA member? cause i might be able to wrangle some more help.. scott
  15. you don't have to fly-fish to do that, trust me.. welcome aboard...
  16. speaking of discarded fishing line, i found some the other day at the river. almost tripped over it, picked it up and started winding it in until it got stuck, ok, follow me here, so i set my stuff down and proceeded to "follow the line" winding as i went. this had to be done purposely because it was wound about every 20' around weeds/logs/sticks whatever it could wrapped around, i'm talking 2-3 wraps around the stuff..this must have been a whole spool because i walked at least 100 or so yards..so i did my cub scout good deed for the day and discarded it properly..anything could have gotten wrapped up in this stuff and perished...
  17. do you insert the head into the tube or just thread the tube onto the hook?
  18. hmmm, i never thought about that, the more popular the more pressure..good point..
  19. i think they should do a top 10 on river systems..they (magazines/tv) seem to focus more on lake fishing 99% of the time. to me, there is a big difference between lakes and river fishing. no offense to the lake boys on here.. scott
  20. crayfish hibernate and i'm sure the minnow population dwindles a bit causing the fish to say, hey i better eat now cause it's not going to be there later, (at least not in abundance)..just my opinion of course. as for the fisherman side, the weather is more comfortable, less bugs, less weeds, and beautiful scenery, and the water is crisp and clear.. scott
  21. unfortunately, a man's word and a handshake aren't good enough anymore. everything has to be in writing..
  22. that picture looks doctored to me. look at the fish, you can see a black line around it. now look at the guys right arm compared to the arm holding the fish. that arm is twice as big..looks like a 15-16" fish to me.. anyone agree? the picture just looked different as soon as i seen it..
