    Our 2nd annual Summer picnic: The picnic shelter at Glenwood forest preserve will again be the location for our now annual summer picnic.Our own chef Spiz is planning a surprise main course and we will all bring along something to add for a pot luck picnic feast.Our pot luck picnic feast from last year will be hard to surpass but I believe we can do it this year.     FYI that is the same day as the Chicago regions 2nd annual picnic at the Glenwood forest preserve picnic shelter in Batavia. The picnic festivities will begin at 10:00 am.You can arrive earlier should you wish to do some morning fishing in the Fox river.

    I like the non slip mono loop knot too. Since my spinal operation,I don't have full feeling in my fingers and this trick really speeds up tying a knot for me. I tested the knot strength and it held very well. I realized that it was a clinch knot.Now I have to try it for the non slip mono loop which I do prefer.

    Sorry to hear about your misfortunes [plural]. As said above the gear can be replaced,you cannot. A big thank you for reminding everyone just how quickly things can go bad on the water. Never take water for granted,any water.

    Many moons ago I was a boy scout. I still live by the boy scout motto "be prepared". I cannot comprehend waiting untill there is a flood to worry about whether or not I have what I need. It never fails to amaze me when people run to a hardware store to buy a snow shovel during a snow storm.DUH this is Chicago,it WILL snow. Be Prepared
