Guest
I didn't get any fishing stuff but rather camping gear (which leads to fishing). I got a Cabelas Cot Tent. It's like a lawn lounger with a tent on it. It's really cool and sets up in a minute. Much more comfortable than the bed of my truck. SKollmann
Pleased to report that I received my Renzetti Presentation 4000 Cam Series vice . . . plus a Renzetti Carry Pouch + Tool Caddy. With all the inclement weather lately, I'm now prepared to commence tying flies (rotary style) in preparation for Spring 2010.
Guest
Picked up one of those small tackle binders at bass pro. It might be a good way to carry stuff on the river. Phil
Guest rich mc
more and more saltwater fly anglers are using the tackle binders for flies.only drawback is they must be dry before placing them back in. rich
ronk
A waterproof camera for all the big fish to be caught in 2010 if my knees allow.Much less bulky than the waterproof case housing my current camera.Speaking of pics these are of the 3 steelies I got on my trip at the end of October. The smallest is about 6-7lbs,the midsize 7-8,the biggest 9-10lbs.Emailed to me from the guide's camera they were sized too small to do anything with.Over xmas thanks to my brother they were resized enuf to allow for posting however poor the image quality. Jonn Graham
Nice fish. Oh, do I crave to feel a fish like that right now pulling on my string. Going crazy right now. Rivers at flood stage and waiting for the ice to reform to a safe level. Nothing to do but tie flies and swim jigs. By the way, Ron, all of your flies are done! In my partial opinion, they look fabulous. I think you will be happy with them.
Mike G
Rich, It sounds like you really want to move to TN. Steve, That is an awsome piece of hardware. Since I do not know what you used before, I don't know how you will use the "rotary' feature. There are a lot of videos out there. I like Al and Gretchen Beatty's book on the topic. I got a stream thermometer and a great book by Lefty Kreh. More on that later.
Norm M
I caught a bra out of the river while fishing on Christmas Day, does that count? Boot dryers for my wading boots, would like to have a river de-icer.
Mark K
I caught a bra out of the river while fishing on Christmas Day, does that count? Norm...Only if they were filled with something pleasant. Nudge, nudge. I got auger and some ice fishing stuff via gift certificates. Looking to decrease my load of fishing junk and organize better. 'course been saying that for the last 10 years. If I took all the gear I actually used in the last 15 years it would probably amount to less than 10% of the bulk I have. Furthurmore I could reduce that load to the the things that actually produced to a very small managable amount. well my kids will never have to buy tackle I guess. He also has his own website that you may be interested in checking out . . . www.rotaryflytying.com. On a final note, what's the title of the Beatty's rotary fly tying book? Mike G
On a final note, what's the title of the Beatty's rotary fly tying book? Steve, Rotary Fly-Tying Techniquesby Al and Gretchen Beatty. Besides techniques it reviews about a dozen vises. Renzetti gets good marks. The techniques are basically the same. Of course once I get something it leads to wanting more. Now I am really interested in the Norlander automatic bobbin.Check that on the Norvise web site via Google. Thanks for the link. Scott Ferguson
New HP computer with 8gigs of ram, and a terrabyte hard drive. Things are a bit speedier than they were before! LOL It wasn't that long ago (1992) when my computer could only hold 10 Megabytes of ram and then, 1 megabyte cost about $400. At those rates, 8 gigs of ram back then would have cost over $3 MILLION! Jim Kast
This was a Black Friday deal, too. Well worth the pain of standing in line for a few hours at a god-awful hour, freezing my butt off! My old computer maxed out at 512mg of ram, and had a whopping 40 gig hard drive. It was fast 6yrs ago. LOL
Mike Clifford
Adding memory is on my list of things to do. Along with updating everything I didn't when the last system crash took place. Started using Google Chrome browser recently. MUCH faster than Firefox (or IE)....but certain apps just don't work on it. Ah, screw it....who am I kidding? I just need a new computer!
