  2. Come help on Saturday 9/25/21 Start time 9am as we plant 600 plants on the west branch Dupage at Warrenville. Bring gloves & waders. We are working with Jesse Demartini FPDDC & head of the Urban stream research center at Blackwell. Plants are native streamside including: Rose mallow, lizard tail, water willow, sweet flag& blue flag iris. Lunch afterwards at the Town Tap. https://goo.gl/maps/T1xuqGL4VAS68Q7Q7 John. The map on the link is Warrenville. Everyone can park along Second St. (2nd St.) which is east of the river and next to the Warrenville Museum and Historical WarrenTavern. We will be planting along the east and west sides of the river upstream of the Warrenville bridge and also downstream of the bridge in various areas. Ill meet you there ( by the museum building) around 8:45am and we can transfer the plants and other items (water, gloves, etc.)into my truck. I will then drive the truck along the trail closer to the river with the equipment ( dibble bars, etc. ) and plants. When done, maybe we can have a bite to eat at the Town Tap... Jess Post or pm me if you can help. We will have lunch afterwards. This should be an easy one, cool temps & low water levels. Bring waders & gloves.

  11. We're planning on pulled pork BBQ from Spiz's new job at the Swine Cellar in Naperville. Added raffle of some gear to go with the rod membership promotion, too.
  12. Rio I think makes short sinking leader sections . Loop to loop on your floating line, add 2' of tippet & you're done. the good thing is you can switch back to a regular leader easily. I tend to fish sinking line in still water. Tim's right about intermediate for flowing water.
  13. Kevin, pm me or call I'll put together a few flies for the friar.
  14. Thanks Terry. I'll send some out . I can get a couple dozen that are already tied. John
  15. Happy & healthy thanksgiving to all. Warmish tomorrow anyone fishing BronzeFriday?
  16. Yes shallow small creeks empty out of large fish as it cools. longer smaller rivers like the Dupe or vermillion will have most fish in a few deep slow pools. remember that crap plants release warmer water & that can hold fish in an area.
  17. A cool & at times wet morning. Seven enjoyed the time casting, twice that many custom bamboo rods in the rack. We had three deer graze the lawn for awhile across from the pavilion & pass back through later. Thanks to Jeff Fox for organizing & Bruce Olson for help setting up. Gordon Koppin brought out his tri-hex 6 weight rod a rare build with great action. This is likely the last activity for some time as the Early show is cancelled until a less covid time.

  20. To those of you who came to the September cast and compare on the fox river at Glenwood Park know what a success it was. So I decided to try the cane rod makers outing on Saturday morning October 17 - 8:00am until noon. That is Glenwood Park mile and a half south of the town of Batavia on route 25. Masks, gloves, and any other safety attire you would like as welcome.
  21. No Early show this year. Mayslake posted no outside rentals for 2020 back in May. I may make up the Cane Cast & Compare on 10/17 if Glenwood is open.
  22. Good turnout - 21 signed in plus a few more. Rain wasn't too bad & it stopped by 10:30. Both shops brought some great new gear and Doug Taylor helped with spey casting lessons. It was good to see some familiar faces but there were 7 who were first time at the event. Thank you to all who came and to Jeremy & Zach from Dupage Fly & Ike from Orvis.
  23. Bring a folding chair, it makes it easier to stay safe. Picnic tables don't work well to maintain 6" distance.
  24. Doug Taylor, Sage Pro staff will join us. Doug is a great spey instructor so be sure to get some help from Doug. Zach Van Dyke from Dupage Fly Fishing is bringing: G - Loomis IMX Pro 7wt. G - Loomis Asquith 8wt. Scott Meridian 8 wt. Sage Payload 10wt. Sage Sonic 6 wt. Ike from Orvis Yorktown is bringing: Clearwater 5 & 7 wt. Recon 7 wt. H3 Mission spey I will bring Orvis Superfine glass 5wt & 8wt plus some favorites & spoold lines to test on your rods.
