  1. This guy sells a nifty jig for cutting popper heads uniformly. His videos are super detailed on how to construct a popper.
  2. If Terry doesn't take it, I will.
  3. Here is a version slightly different. http://flyanglersonline.com/flytying/fotw2/011507fotw.php The son of the guy who invented this fly is carrying the torch. His name is Wade Blevins. He is pretty active on Instagram. He does illustration too, awesome artist. He is also under Samsonebug. Here is another version I may give a shot. https://vimeo.com/186066571
  4. Yes, cut at angle in in the back I think it's 30 degrees. Yes you slit the bottom of the foam , but I haven't mastered sealing the fly's ass and I did glue my fingers together on the first one . The hook is a Daiichi 1710 #6 , it's 1/4" foam.
  5. Sam's One Bug I have not tied in a while. by Mark Kasick, on Flickr
  6. This stood out to me in the article I read. "Callahan currently manages her own communications consulting firm after spending over seven years as state director for USDA Rural Development in Illinois. During her tenure, she oversaw a 20% reduction in staffing while still being able to generate a $1 billion increase in the Illinois loan portfolio." https://www.ipha.com/news/post/3575/gov-pritzker-appoints-idhs-idnr-idfpr-leadership
  7. That would be like appointing a fossil fuel lobbyist to head the EPA!
  8. good news indeed. But I would not want to be that guy on that crane -jack hammer thing. That looks scary!
  9. Introducing paperwork into fishing. What a great idea. not.
  10. I just looked at American Rivers website for the first time in a long while. Pretty interesting. https://www.americanrivers.org/rivers/
  11. I can help out on Saturday. Sunday my son Will is wrestling. It's an all day thing.
  12. The first response was honest but unnecessarily dick-ish.
  13. Rob- is this the way you tie those buggers? http://www.warmwaterflytyer.com/patterns3.asp?page=21
  14. I never fished the Dowagiac and only the St Joe once. I got an email from a guide (must have signed up on his list at a show) where he says this: https://www.facebook.com/rippleguideservice/posts/attention-dowagiac-river-fishermenthe-dowagiac-river-fishery-needs-your-help-the/1071315576247360/ then I did some Googling and I read this: https://www.anglinoutdoors.com/blog then here is a news story https://www.southbendtribune.com/news/local/niles-moves-closer-to-removing-old-pucker-street-dam/article_9f9d1edd-2c0c-56ba-879b-213ede2799e9.html At the end of the day I usually conclude dam removal is a good thing.
  15. Scott, can you put me down for spot# 5 4 nights 8/20- 23. My boys will be in school, so I will be going solo.
  16. I got a chance to stop by to chat with Scott and Gordon. Very nice.
  17. Santa brought me the Dennison Research Products blood knot tier. I just got done making a leader. This tool makes tying blood knots about a million times easier and neater. it's relatively cheap too. 10 or 15 bucks. I tried making a tool out of alligator clamps. Don't bother, this is easier.
  18. Thankfully. This is hard on me. I go to work and come in darkness. I try to go outside at lunch for at least 30 minutes and get some sunlight.
  19. Salt Creek is supposed to be good. I fished it a long time ago, but closer to the Zoo. Caught a few smallies.
  20. Here is a link to all the stream gauges by county. https://waterdata.usgs.gov/il/nwis/current/?type=flow I think 05532600 might be the closest.
