  1. Yeah... that's what I thought too
  2. Something fishy! I did a walkabout Saturday afternoon from shore. No fish but nice to be out.
  3. Ed, are you reminding everyone or looking to see who's coming or both?
  4. It is a good idea, just wonder how snag proof it is... gotten spoiled with slider hooks and keeper hooks. Guess I could make one w/Mike's thrifty approach and give it try.
  5. Now my jaw hurts... from dropping... Seriously though, we should be good stewards of our sport and that includes treating the fish w/as much care as possible to avoid extra or excessive or undue injury.
  6. I counted and have or had 23 of 50. Bunch of stuff I never heard of like "Phoebe". I thought she was on Friends... A couple to add... sammy, swim jig (just ordered some more from Jonn).
  7. This is one of the ways I fished for perch on the lakefront. 1/4 or 3/8 oz weight 18-24 inches in front of a shad rap. I suppose it could be modified for river use w/regard to current, lure and weight.
  8. Ed, Will this still happen if we get 7 inches of snow? Short drive for me, just thinking of everyone else.
  9. I like that idea... could also be used carolina style then. Just might have to make some of these just to play with. Thanks Norm!
  10. Norm, where can you get pc? That stuff is is strong as nails... and I can see where it'd be less prone to snag. Everyone in my kids scout troop got survial bracelets made out of pc for Christmas so I know a little bit about it...

    Waders

Tom, I'd like to modify my earlier statments. I don't think I can get my extra thick socks on w/my boots but med thick work. Extra thick would require going up a size.

    Waders

Tom, Good info but I have to disagree w/you on boot sizing. Perhaps it varies by brand but boots are already upsized. I normally wear 13 and have size 13 boots. Not sure what thickness sock I could wear but when wearing regular wool socks I have some room to grow. There is absolutley no way I could wear/walk in a size 15 boot no matter how thick my socks were. 14's would be a stretch even w/a super thick sock but I still think walking would be quite a challenge as the boot would be too loose. I'd actually like a size smaller for summer wet wading as my 13's are too big even w/putting on a neoprene sock. I have Simms boots.

    Waders

This is for stocking foot breathables; Regardless of brand you want to make sure the waders fit properly by trying them on. That usually translates into s little big. You'll want some extra room to get layers underneath in spring and fall. You'll also want extra room for bending, kneeling, doing the stretch step onto a high bank etc. You want to avoid undue stretching/stressing of the seams cause thats the biggest cause of leaks other than busting brush (or wading w/Don ). Just like clothes not all manufacturers specs are the same. I have two brands of waders, both XL, both supposed to be the same size. One fits perfect; little room in the foot, plenty of room for layers or freedom of movement. The other pair fits but it's "tight" compared to first pair. If you don't get your boots and waders at the same time make sure you bring your waders and a pair of light to med wool socks to try boots on with. Not all boots are created equal either. Some people swear by the higher end stuff and others have the same experience with lower end products. Shop around, read reviews, get what you can afford and meets your needs at the moment.
  14. Currently I mostly use a 7 ft St. Croix Premier med fast. Sometimes it's just a skosh too much rod but overall it's been a great tool. If forced to get a new one I would look for something just a skosh lighter in action and faster in the tip. Not necessarily med light but maybe upgrade to St. Croix's next model or look at a different brand. Even if I owned any watercraft I think I would prefer wading or walking the banks as it seems you are just a little more in tune w/nature. Wading puts you closer and in a more intimate relationship with the body of water you are fishing (jmo). That being said floating silently down a river is pretty sweet and I do miss the old days boat fishing w/my friends. I'm sure in 20 plus years I'll want to be back in boat
  15. You had to snap the picture when I was stuffing my face... Thanks for organizing this Ed! Good people, good food.
  16. Is that a hint you want this from Santa or are you offering to buy a few for select members...
  17. And you wonder why your waders and boots wear out...???
  18. I would assume March 3 or 10 based on the last couple years of dates.
  19. I think it's just a presentation on what, how and why for maintenance. However I'm sure Eric would take all the reels you have and get them cleaned up and running smooth.
  20. Looks like I can make both of these. Assume you'll do another announcement for the pizza party and will reconfirm then but for sure coming to Corens. Looks like the links didn't post clickable but both locations are easy enough to Googlemap.
  21. Great article and great job Terry!! Hopefully the more public this becomes the more pressure is put on them to literally clean up their act.
  22. Thanks Rich, it was fun to help out. The kids had a good time and I think they even learned a few things.
  23. It worked at work today when I did a quick test, however it still won't work at home... Oh well...
  24. "friendly"? Starwars banter between the spin/cast and fly guys. Spin/casters who take up fly fishing have been swayed to the dark side by the force. At least that's how I see it...
