Dick G
Reports from up north show that ice fishing is well underway.
John Gillio
Yet another sign of global warming. Or would this be the new sport of ice drift fishing.

Mike G
Is it time? IMHO it is never time to ice fish.
Norm M
is it ice fishing if you are standing in a river while the ice floes bounce off you ?
Mike G
No. You have to drill a hole in the flows and fish through the hole.
Norm M
Land o Goshen, that sounds like work. I'm allergic to that kind of stuff.
tgoodmanii
I've been ice fishing for weeks now. "Global Warming"...Thought they changed it to "Climate Change"? Anyway, ice fishing is actually enjoyable and bluegill taste great this time of year. Better than sitting in my cozy warm house complaining about how it's too cold to go fishing:)

jude
I've only tried it once. I've alway considered myself a decent flycaster, but hitting that little hole in the ice with a wooly bugger from forty feet was tough.

Mike G
I've only tried it once. I've alway considered myself a decent flycaster, but hitting that little hole in the ice with a wooly bugger from forty feet was tough. I I never had trouble hitting the hole. Cutting a 90 ft channel in the ice for the retrieve was a real pain especially when the ice got around 25 " deep. Cutting back to 75 feet cramped my stroke too much. So I turned to Ski Flying for winter when I could not get to New Zealand. Bummer!

Mike G
Been hanging around Mike lately? No.If he did, he would know that Mike is ultraconservative.. He takes bourbon and scotch neat, beer at room temp. No ice. But cold is a good reason to drink.

Mike G
Another would be most of his posts/replies Ya got me there Ron. Though modern bait casting and spinning outfits are easy to use and highly effective, I take on the challenge of traditional fly fishing. I compare it to the difference between hunting with a high powered rifle and scope and hunting with a bow and arrow. I Don't always fly fish, but I keep the old ways alive.
