  3. Use this time to reorganizes how you carry stuff in your vest or kayak. There has got to be a better, and more effective way. There just has to be.
  4. I guess that would be me. If you would please think back to the summer of 2011 during IDNR's steam sampling of the north branch of the Kishwaukee River. Furunculosis > http://aqua.merck-animal-health.com/diseases/furunculosis/productadditional_127_113308.aspx During the sampling it was discovered that ALL the smallmouth all had boils on their skin which was some kind of bacterial disease most commonly found with salmon and trout species. It would be hard to prove, but I do believe that the the stocked tout for this particular year were carriers of the disease. Read more on the discussion here > http://illinoissmallmouthalliance.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=8288 (Paul T makes an interesting point.) If this out break were the cause of an infected trout class, then I think another thing to think about is.... Can carelessness on behalf of the IDNR during the stocking season create problems? The whole thing is just silly. Any "other guys" like to chime in.
  5. I read today that smallmouth also like to indulge on a french fry or two. I would recommend a wacky rig for anybody interested in testing this.
  6. I agree with Mike. I never did understand the reasoning behind the program. Just seems dumb to me.
  7. Worth reading Public Rights on Rivers > http://www.nationalrivers.org
  8. I don't go by reviews, some people write bad reviews just to write bad reviews and giggle. I read all kinds of bad reviews on the Fuji Xp, the preferred camera of NW Region members, and we like it just fine.
  9. First of all, Welcome! I've been dabbling with the south the last couple of years. From what I have noticed the south branch seems to fish best in late Spring. Once the Summer levels take over the fishing can be tough. We're (ISA) doing a thing this Saturday in Rockford if you can find the time. > http://isakenrockfishing.blogspot.com/?zx=cfcf71c12ffb9909 You'll be able to talk with quite a few smallmouth fishermen at this event, if you can make it.
  10. This is the time of year that the big boys and girls like to come out and play. Step up your game and join us here in the NW Region as we search for, Brutus, the 20" Kishwaukee River smallmouth. Contact Terry Dodge for more info > http://illinoissmall...hp?showuser=877 P.S. B&G at the Cherry Valley Cafe @ 7:30am. > https://plus.google.com/108624718606602667345/about?gl=us&hl=en
  11. If you missed it the first time, then this is your chance to make it up. We will meet at the Cherry Valley Cafe @ 7:30am. > https://plus.google.com/108624718606602667345/about?gl=us&hl=en After breakfast we will breakout our fly gear and enjoy a nice relaxing day of smallies on a fly. Spin gear guys are always welcomed. Contact Terry Dodge for more info > http://illinoissmall...hp?showuser=877
  12. Glad I could help. I have not tried the boots as of yet, but they do appear to be pretty heavy duty and look as if they should last awhile.
  13. Really? I did not know. I'll be looking into that. Thanks!
  14. X3 I hate waders! I only wear them in the early Spring and when the water cools in the Fall. I just picked up a pair for a damn good price from Cabela's. Get 'em while you can.... http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=1417890&destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fproduct.jsp%3FproductId%3D734259%26type%3Dproduct%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26searchPath%3D%252Fcatalog%252Fsearch%252F%253FN%253D%2526No%253D20%2526Ntk%253DAllProducts%2526Ntt%253Dwading%252Bboots%2526Ntx%253Dmode%25252Bmatchallpartial%2526WTz_l%253DHeader%25253BSearch-All%252BProducts%2526WTz_st%253D%2526WTz_stype%253DSP%2526form_state%253DsearchForm%2526recordsPerPage%253D20%2526search%253Dwading%252Bboots%2526searchTypeByFilter%253DAllProducts%2526x%253D0%2526y%253D0%26Ntt%3Dwading%2Bboots%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&WTz_l=YMAL%3BIK-831301
  15. I take it those are tied with dumbbell eyes. Just out of curiosity, what size dumbbells do you use. I tend to always go with the large size, more sinkage, more better. Or do you use a variety of sizes? Does the size of the dumbbells depend on the size of the hook used? Sorry for all the questions, these are just things I have always wondered about.
  16. Really like the two on the left side. What size hook are you using on those?
  17. Please tell me you WON'T be here all week.
  18. Got er done. It's just very difficult to find how to do it. I prefer the Classic Maps but in order to delete old maps you have to go thru the NEW Google Maps. Sucks! Very time consuming, but done.
  19. I'll look into that. Thanks.
