What streamer Ron?

Norm, the Tuma Lake across from Joe's Pond? We used to hike back there to ice fish. I remember my Dad always having to lug everything back to the car because our hands would be "frozen" and we couldn't carry anything. Brats. I also remember the winter kill 78-79. I especially recall driving by all the "no fishing" waters and seeing big bass just laying there rotting. Used to catch some nice LMB at Sag Quarries too on black/gold floating Rapalas that always ended up in a tree somewhere. My Dad took us some where nearly every weekend. We were lucky boys.

Ron, did you tube the backwaters at Tampier? We used to try to wade somewhat in hip boots but couldn't really get back there other than ice fishing, which used to be great for crappies. I used to see a few guys coming out of there in their tubes and I'm guessing they did well bass fishing. I also saw nice pike back there in early spring.

Good stories Mark. Sounds like we grew up in the same part of town; I used to take the bus back from Marquette Park with mayonnaise jars of tadpoles and crayfish. My Dad took us to fish all the CCFPD lakes as well. He had a lot of patience with us. We fished when we wanted and explored the rest of the time. Our first camping trips to the K3 hooked me for life on rivers and creeks. My Dad wasn't a great fisherman when we first started, but he devoted the time and we all got better together. It's a bond we still share today. Your boys will be writing about you someday, if not already. Good stuff.

I became a grandfather in September, and one of the first things my daughter told me about her little girl was "she can't wait to go fishing with Grampa" Eric, a good fly shop is still a great place to talk fishing.

I'm waiting on the elves to finish up a GrayWolf custom glass rod for me. Hopefully I will be seeing it next week

Norm More than likely was a leopard frog. Pickerel frogs are extremely scarce and the K3 would not be its typical habitat. Regardless, he was out a little late in the year!

The only rinsing my boots get is when leaving the river as I don't have access to a hose at home (condo). I air dry them on the balcony along with my waders. They typically dry completely in between uses. It's my 5th season with both boots and waders (purchased April 2011) and while the tread pattern on the boots need some help, everything is still intact and I have had zero leaks in my waders (Simms G4). Knock on wood.

Try the cranberry cheddar snack stix and also chili cheese is pretty good!

I have a friend that likes to use a fluoro leader on the end of the superline. He is a great fisherman, often out fishing those in our group, so its hard to say if his efforts are the result of the fluoro leader or just being a smarter angler. Personally, I don't like fluorocarbon as I've found it too brittle as well, compared to Maxima monofilament I prefer for leader tippet.

My Dad caught a rainbow way upstream on Rock Creek, up around the scout camp, which is above the falls. That was many, many years ago, when I was a boy. I always wondered if it was stocked but I assumed so.
