Any new member recruits yet, gentlemen? Thanks for all your efforts!

The ISA has mentored thousands of kids in this regard, and if you ask any volunteer that was a part of it they will tell you that the experiences are nothing short of magical. Will the kids ever fish again? The statistics we have for returning anglers say they do. At the same time, the number of first-time kids rises every year. There is no magic bullet. Just knowing that we try our best and see the results as big smiles and squeals of delight from excited kids catching their first fish may be as good as it gets.

The permit on this has been approved. Work should begin next week, weather permitting!

Received an update on this project that the ISA helped to fund. The rock is awaiting a final permit process from the SWCD, then this will be a go. A recap of the project goals:

A recent effort supported by ISA members like you!! Dear ISA members, Here is an update on the project on the Plum River near Savanna, IL. Attached are before and after photos of the log jams we cleared from the river. We were able to have a crew of 12 people removing logjams for three days. All of the funding from the ISA went towards the hiring of an excavator for those three days. We were able to also solicit donations from local businesses to pay for expenses, having your grant money in hand helped to persuade those businesses that this is a serious effort. The public portion of this project had to be canceled due to flooding, but we plan to have a public planning meeting in late fall or early winter to plan for projects next year. We are ending this season with a positive balance that will help get Plum River projects started earlier next year.

That's great news for the District lakes!! Especially Herrick. The kids are going to be catching quality fish next year.
