  1. On a weekday. Who do they figure will show up? Academics and people without jobs? Crazy. Or, it's mostly for the students and not the general public.
  2. The only time other than that press conference that I'd met her was at Conservation Congress in Springfield. I bet Rich has crossed paths with her over the years. He's worked with everybody!
  3. Cynthia is second from the right. Photo from the ISA page. She is a master of her craft, and you will do well to get her on board with this.
  4. Here is a link that describes it much differently. You might want to clarify with her further. http://tycho.knowlton.ohio-state.edu/ibiscore.html
  5. The biotic index refers to the invertebrates in a system. The lower the number, the better. Though, I always understood the scale to be 1-10. Not sure what scale she might be referring to. http://www.cfb.unh.edu/StreamKey/html/biotic_indicators/indices/Hilsenhoff.html
  6. I forgot about that initial meeting. My favorite was when we hosted them for the river sampling event. Then Scott and Eugene joining us for an Autumn riverscape adventure. Funny thing is....I probably spent 30 hours with the camera crew, and not one minute made the final cut.
  7. We had a viewing party for this one outdoors on a big screen over the summer. Gave the film crew a tour of the Il side, and they gave me a tour of the In side while capturing footage for the documentary. Great people.
  8. Let's not forget that Rich has done stellar work behind the scenes for conservation and smallmouth habitat. Very well-respected among our peers in this regard. Illinois rivers and streams are better off due to his diligence and hard work. To say I'm proud to have worked with Rich is an understatement. As well, his dedication toward educating young anglers was tireless and consistent over these many years. I tip my hat to one of the finest people I've had the great pleasure of knowing.
  9. Over 80% in Kankakee County voted yes. They had NO idea that our state park could be gated and left to rot with no funding to staff it.
  10. It was worded as something great!!! Nobody in my family other than me knew what it was and just clicked yes......except my wife. She didn't fall for it.
  11. My labor union is telling us to vote yes (for jobs). Enviros are telling us to vote no (for natural resources). A split among liberal factions. I don't trust Illinois politicians not to get their grimy hands on the money for whatever they see fit. Leaving both of the above left out. A swift NO from me.
  12. Awesome publication. Many thanks to Crystal and all those that submitted content!!
  13. Outstanding work, all! Does anybody have a photo or 2 that we can submit for the newsletter (deadline is this week) and the Facebook ISA page? Much appreciate your efforts!! A very special thanks goes out to Craig for putting this together.
  14. A great loss to the world, and will be sorely missed. Prayers to his family.
  15. Thanks Bart!! Have done the show a few times and love it!
  16. The ISA, Illinois Environmental Council and Prairie Rivers Network are collaborating on an op-ed in this matter.
  17. The article states that Nic Anderson is in the middle of many community meetings, and ignores questions about who he is. I battled him on our very own forums here over the dairy CAFO planned for Jo Daviess county that has since left the state. This guy maintains an office that serves to operate some kind of official-sounding industry CAFO club. It's one dude with a desk and phone. Oh, and a website. Not hard to track down. We've spoken on the phone a few times. So here is the deal. A county board will oppose a CAFO coming to town, residents will gather and holler. The IDOA rubber stamps the project. Construction begins.
  18. I had several people tell me that the fish being caught on this day were a direct result of the Quinn Draz "funds for fish" program that the ISA donated funding towards. How cool is that?? The hybrid bluegill/sunfish were being caught at an alarming rate.
  19. A very heartfelt thanks goes out to the 9 ISA volunteers that showed up to lend their support once again at this event under sweltering hot conditions. Your unwavering support and professionalism never ceases to amaze me. Once again, thanks to all of you!
  20. Thanks, Pat!! Please remind your friends with fly rods. A very popular highlight of the casting field. See you there!
  21. THIS SATURDAY!! 350 registered, with a waiting list. We NEED your help. Let me know, please!
  22. The date this year is July 23. We set our limit at 350 this year and already have 300 sign-ups as of today. Can you believe this is our 10th year of providing casting instruction for these kids? Please comment here if you plan to help out in the casting field. As always, free lunch from Subway....sno-cones, fresh popcorn.....and the best hot and buttery corn-on-the-cob on the planet. See you there!!

  24. I never thought I'd see this in my lifetime. What an extraordinary accomplishment. [url="https://www.fws.gov/midwest/news/838.html"[/url]
