  1. So if Terry owns the south branch, who owns the north ? I know the guy who owns the Kankakee, might be able to get you guys on that river .
  2. Thursday ,2 smallmouth on weighted keeper/case jack's worm on inside seam of eddy. Friday, one smallmouth, one walleye on paddletail fluke/darter head at inflows .
  3. Craig Riendau has a fly called the Sonic fly featured in the new winter edition of FlyTyer magazine .Congrats to Craig .
  4. only thing too much rain does is to redefine the locations and techniques you need to be successful .
  5. does that mean my wife really can have me committed ?
  6. Shoot I took Dale Bowman from the Sun Times out some years back, got him a smallmouth on a crankbait in 33 degree water. Myself, Phil, Kamala, Josh McDermott, Butch Ward [rest his soul] are among those that would disagree with it being over in low 30 water temps . Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor ?
  7. Always happy to give some time to Ma. Good karma for all . Nice breakfast, great company and a worthwhile endeavor, definitely worth giving up a day in the water .
  8. heard a theory that fracking could be responsible for the increase in earthquakes in the region.
  9. no more dumpster by the concession stand . should be able to be there.
  10. Makes sense now , Rich water was maybe 3.5 ft deep but the current was still on the strong side.
  11. out fishing the other day, catching fish on a jig/pig. chatting with another fisherman who was using a fly rod, a 6 weight. he said he would like to get in on the action but if he was going to switch to a sinking line to get down , he would have to go get his 7 weight. I asked why as I thought that you used fly line that matched your rod no matter if the line sinks or floats. he said no. that he went up to the next size rod if he used a sinking line. just curious, was that just personal preference on his part or is it really necessary ? I tend to think that you would not have to as that would be damnably inconvenient . after thinking about it for a bit, he ended up tying on a clouser, wrapped some lead tape on the leader and caught a couple, so all ended well.
  12. Home grown solutions are always the best .
  13. Terry If you recently switched fishing hats, it may have flown the coop with the hat. I've found mojo has an affinity for hats, especially those that are best described as very well broken in. the new hat must be eased into the mix slowly and allowed to sit next to the old hat when neither is in use. Leaving the last lure you caught fish on attached to your rod/reel while not in use also helps keeps mojo around. You should leave it on until you arrive at the place you intend to fish. It may then be removed if your gut instinct says use something else. One way to help invite mojo back is to follow this ritual. Upon arrival at the river, put on the lanyard with your line cutter around your neck. Then place the lanyard on your glasses and put them on. Then place your fishing hat on. Then take off your left shoe and sock. Insert your foot into the wading sock. Insert the left leg into your waders and pull on but do not tie the left wading boot. Follow the same procedure with the right foot/leg. Stand up fasten the suspender over your left shoulder and then the right shoulder. Next tie the right boot, followed by your left boot. Put the wading belt on so the male end of the belt is on the same side as the male end as the suspender. Once you invoke this ritual and the mojo returns, you must do it that way every time or the mojo may leave once again. If you desire you may also dance nude around a fire at midnight with virgins. With the spirit of the Swami to inspire you in the dance, you may be blessed with enough mojo for three fisherman. Then again you might just have a good time.
  14. y'all stay plumb away, heah .
  15. well if you hope to get photos of 20 guys with a twenty inch plus smallmouth 21 guys better do it . no picture as I don't carry a camera. had one smallmouth today just a little south of the 20 inch mark, holding in submerged water willows . I don't go on pig hunts like I used to when I was obsessed with 20 inch smallmouth. If it happens it puts a smile on my face, if it doesn't I still enjoy the day. Not like the days when any trip without a twenty left me dissatisfied. I prefer the way I feel now .
  16. I get an e mail alert when I get a PM .Also shows in the notification box in the top right corner .Not sure if I'm supposed to get anything else .
  17. Yeah, I was the corpse. No one told me I'm dead yet .

    Fair price?

Fly with dumbbell weight on head, living rubber, marabou and chamois strip on the hook. Asking price is $ 7.99 each, which I thought was a bit steep. What would be a fair price ? Looked like it could be used on light spin gear if I wanted to. It looked cool, most likely would use in cricks .
  19. The good part was, I was on fish. The bad part was, three times dudes came up and started casting in where I was fishing. Not a howdy, scram or any type of acknowledgement I was there. When I told them they were not following common fishing etiquette, they replied it was father's day and they didn't have time to find fish on their own. I pointed out I was out trying to enjoy Father's day and they all said, I looked like I knew the river and could find another spot. Karma will deal with them. I simply walked away, it wasn't worth getting into confrontations . At least I didn't find a guy who had been dead for a week like I did a few years ago on Father's Day That haunts me, yet. I was on fish . .
  20. my home river is a viable option for this.
  21. working on an anti g device to hover above the water .
  22. Jeff's article on the Kankakee touched on a subject near and dear to the hearts of many of our members. Jonn's article on the Mack saddened me as I enjoyed that river immensely. May it return to it's former glory . I would second his statement about anything that could be construed as cover is worthy of a few casts, in the spring article .The fish don't care if it's natural, manmade or a spaceship parked by Elvis .
