  1. Based on the poor water and weather conditions we will reschedule tomorrow's float to next Saturday, April 9th. We will still plan to meet at the Shorewood Burger King on April 9th at 7 am.to set up our shuttle. It looks like next Saturday's weather conditions and water levels will be much more favorable. Anyone who has any questions or needs directions let me know.
  2. Frank, if we don't get hit too hard with rain on Wednesday or Thursday the water levels could be good. Looking for cfs at Shorewood to be around 400 and under. I went by river today and it is starting to recede and clear. Could be in good shape by Saturday if we don't get pounded on this week. I'll keep everyone posted as the week progresses.
  3. Great question. I just purchased some wading pants, thinking these may be better for kayaking. Thinking of getting some x large tennis shoes for comfort.
  4. Tim, were still on barring high waters. Looks like were in for some rain and cooler weather in the days before. Sounds like smallmouth weather to me! We'll plan to meet at the Burger King located at intersection of Rt 52 (Jefferson) and Rt 59 in Shorewood at 7:00 am to get our act together and set up shuttle. Its easy to find just off I 55 at Rt 52/Shorewood exit.
  5. I thought Norm was referring to the entrance near the trap range. I understand now this is not the same entrance. t
  6. Great event last night and great fun had by all. Really enjoyed Jeremy's talk. Thanks to all that attended and to the volunteers that helped run the event.
  7. Bummer, what is the point in that? Make the river less accessible?
  8. Tell Dale thanks for posting the picture showing my big gut. Man, I've got to go on a diet! Great event by the way Ed, thanks Jessie for an excellent presentation. I learned a lot.
  9. Awesome looking smallmouth flies, look perfect for the Dupe!
  10. Be there or be square. Our second Chicagoland fishing excursion will take place on May 7th on the Fox river. Hopefully, we'll get into some pre spawn bass. Mark your calendars accordingly. More details to follow. I see I made the mistake again on the topic date. Can someone help me edit this to reflect the correct date of May 7th?
  11. We'll kick off the Chicagoland fishing season with a float trip on Saturday, April 2nd. Hopefully, the forecast for a mild spring will bare true and we don't get rained out. The plan at the moment will be to meet at the 135th street boat ramp. I'll post more details as the date approaches.
  12. Terry, I'm sure Phaaker wouldn't mind you identifying him by his name, "Patrick".
  13. Done, sorry about that.
  14. Congrats to all! I knew Eric and others had a few this past year. Hope to join in 2016!
  15. My condolonces and prayers to Steve and his family. Life is precious. Enjoy every day the best you can.
  16. Seat comfort and lumbar support are important, especially for us older guys!
  17. I went with the XLng Orvis Sonics with extra long inseam last year and they haven't leaked yet, knock on wood. Added inseam length allows for crouching and bending that resulted in busted inseams in previous waders with regular inseam length.
  18. Ericg, your right about setting the hook with fluorocarbon leader, its definitely a finesse set, I've learned the hard way after loosing some nice fish trying aggressively to set the hook.
