  11. Welcome aboard, Rory. In my humble opinion you came to the right place to accomplish your goals. While we are not a fly fishing club per se, we do have a very active fly fishing component. I strongly recommend that you attend some of our upcoming events as the best way to learn the local waters. I would recommend you start with our POT LUCK PICNIC which will be held at the Glenwood Forest preserve on the Fox river in Batavia. Ed B

  13. Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame Announces 2017 InducteesOct 4, 2016 | Uncategorized Submitted by Tim Lesmeister One of the many programs of the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame, based in Hayward, Wisconsin, consists of recognizing individuals, organizations and institutions who have made significant and lasting contributions to the sport and heritage of freshwater fishing. The Hall of Fame Awards Committee meets annually in August to make their selections for the following year. After much deliberation there were 11 individuals and one organization inducted into the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame’s 2017 year class. Dan Basore has shared his knowledge through his “Fishing History” column in Midwest Outdoors and other publications for over 30 years. He especially loves to introduce kids to fishing and has done so by hosting scout groups and school groups with a structured program. For many years Basore has been in charge of the National Fishing Lure Collector’s Club which recognizes tackle makers while they are alive so they can realize what a treasure their collections are and how much they are appreciate Dan is being honored with a dinner to celeberate his induction into the Fresh Water Fishing Hall Of Fame ( and his 75th birthday ) on July 29th. The dinner will be held at Bass Pro Shop 709 Janes Ave, Bolingbrook, IL

  16. Saturday, July 29th I S A Pot luck picnic, Glenwood Forest Preserve picnic shelter, Batavia. Come on out a little early if you would like to do a little fishing in the Fox River beforehand. This is one of our most popular and in my opinion our most enjoyable social outings of the year. Come on out and enjoy an afternoon of camaraderie with your fellow I S A members while enjoying a sumptuous Summer picnic feast. Festivities begin at 10:00am with the food being served around noon. The I S A will supply the meats and soft drinks and everyone is encouraged ( not required ) to bring a dish to share. Remember this is a family friendly picnic so do not hesitate to include any family members that would care to join in the fun. Please R S V P here so that we may plan accordingly

  19. WOW what a great event. The weather could not have been better although the river could have been just a bit lower. It was low enough though that we could easily get it all done. We planted all but 3 flats of water willow which Jessi says she will get planted later. We also released about 500 mussels into the DuPage river. Who knew that each one had to be placed in the river bed in the proper orientation? We all do now. There were fourteen I S A members there along with several people from the DuPage County Forest Preserve District to help and provide instruction. Dale Bowman of the Sun Times and a reporter from the Daily Herald ( I didn't get his name ) were there to cover the event and help out. Thank You to everyone who showed up and did such a great job
