JimR
What is the luer that you most regularly (while bronzeback hunting) catch the wrong species on? For me it's got to be the shaky head worm. Cat fish love this thing, and if I pick it up and drop it a lot, the walleyes seem to as well. John Gillio
It would be a twister tail for me, as that is what I throw most often.A 1 1/2 inch pearl tube jig has been the most productive by far for multiple species, but I rarely focus on smallies with one. Guest rich mc
scot, which brand do you use most?. roostertail, panther martin or mepps
Scott Ferguson
#3 or #4 plain (no squirrel tail) Mepps.
JeffD
I've gotta agree with those who said an inline spinner or Mepps Aglia. Go out with a #2 in July or August and you can hook up with smb, lmb, spot, rock bass, channel cat, sunfish, shiner, and most anthing else. I actually like a #4 for bass, but the #2 will catch more species.
eugene f collins
Crankbaits catch the most species for me. Probably because i throw them the most.
Rob G
If spin fishing, a 2" white or pearl twister tail, is there a fish that swims that won't hit it? If fly fishing, my modified clouser/crazy charlie or a black woolly bugger
asherman
For fly fishing, an olive wooly bugger will catch just about anything that swims in Illinois rivers. Clouser minnows in white and olive are a close second. For spin fishing, a Mepps spinner is a good universal bait.
JimR
Great replies. I've noticed the grubs too, especially for pike. Inline spinners as well. Man I can't believe I didn't think to put that down. Stopped using them late this spring because I wanted to find other confidence baits. Lots o white bass on the Kish with em. Guest rich mc
i stopped using the smaller in line spinners because the little smallies were taking it deep. even with debarbing and removing one hook from the treble. used the size 3mepps in copper withorange bead, no hair, years ago on little bay de noc. friends up said thats all you need. rich
Paul Trybul
I'm going with a 3" gulp alive minnow. Pike, white bass, crappie, walleye, sauger, trout, LM & SM bass, my list of species on this versitile plastic is pretty long.
