Guest Paul J Trybul Posted September 6, 2016 Report Posted September 6, 2016 Flipped the boat over on a bolder. Lost $500 worth of gear don't put the fat guy in the front. Quote
Scott Ferguson Posted September 6, 2016 Report Posted September 6, 2016 Gear can be replaced. Glad to see that was the only casualty. Quote
Ben K. Posted September 6, 2016 Report Posted September 6, 2016 Sorry to hear that Paul, were you in a canoe? Quote
Paul Trybul Posted September 6, 2016 Report Posted September 6, 2016 They were in my canoe that was equipped with an outrigger stabalizer. Normally that set up is very stable but this river section has fast current, rapids and boulders. They got it a jam, got one of the outrigger floats up on a boulder which then drove the other float into the water. Once the current grabbed that it was over and they flipped. They rearanged who was in front and in back and used much more caution after that and there were no more close calls. Quote
Paul Trybul Posted September 6, 2016 Report Posted September 6, 2016 Here are a few pics of my canoe set up. It's actually very stable with the outriggers. I've stood up and fished out of it. The danger is getting the outriggers caught up on something. Then they quickly change from a benefit to a liability. Quote
Guest Paul J Trybul Posted September 6, 2016 Report Posted September 6, 2016 Put my cell phone in rice works fine now. There has been a lot of bolders in my life. I have lost count of the boating mishaps but I always still catch fish. Quote
ericg Posted September 6, 2016 Report Posted September 6, 2016 Scary, glad you are all right. EricG Quote
