I like to read his stuff, like the insight on current . I was just wondering what the guys that actually fly fish think of him .

I liked his videos with one exception wherein he highly recommended a large bulky white streamer for smallies.i took the bait and bought 2 at a whopping $10 apiece. It turned out to be as miserable casting as a musky fly and has never been on my leader. since

Have one of his books, "The Orvis Guide to Redading Trout Streams". Very well written, easy to understand, and great illustrations. Was given a book, "Salt Coastal and Flats Fishing", as a Christmas gift. The book essayed by Tom Rosenbauer. Great pictures,fun to read and full of insight. The man knows what is his talking about.

I have "The Orvis Guide to Small Stream Fly Fishing". Good book so far, though I haven't read it cover to cover yet. I will have to pick up his book on reading trout streams.

Last year at the Indiana Smallmouth Alliance blowout, I won via silent auction, The Orvis Fly-Fishing Guide by Tom Rosenbauer. It covers a ton of material and so he can't possibly go into as much depth as he does in a smaller more specific volume but it does pack a lot of information for both beginner and the more experienced. I enjoy his writing style and the photos and drawings are top notch.

Rob, nice article in the Bronzeback Magazine about the simple bunny leach. I was just thinking about tying something similar.Your article inspired me to get it done. I just used your simple instructions. As you said,"Simple can be better".

What streamer Ron?

It's called a Gamechanger from Umpqua.It's 4" long andhas good action being articulated & with a paddle tail but is difficult to cast out of the box & gets even harder as it absorbs water. it might cast passably with an 8wt but I don't like going that heavy for smb. I might try it again for lmb when I do go to an 8.

OK, I thought it might be that fly. I looked at that pattern at DuPage; it was like $15 I think. Too much to feed the toothy critters up north!
