  3. January meeting will be held in Heyworth Illinois at the VFW at 6:30 p.m. Directions: Take 51 south out of Bloomington to Heyworth exit, state road 136 east. Take 136 east to flashing red light and turn left. Go two blocks north and turn right. Go 4 blocks east and the VFW is on the right side of the street. Meeting, bring your top "go to lure" in your favorite color. Have it rigged just like you fish it and share with us the technique you use that makes it your "go to" favorite.
  4. That was "very cool". I had to watch it twice. It really got me pumped up to hit the White River again.
  5. You guys are indeed forunate to have water so close. My nearest water is 45 minutes awy so there is no breakfast smallies for me.
  6. Excellent Idea, Iam throwing in coverall's for tomorrow.
  7. Sharps Barber and Shop soap. Uhhhhhhhhh............these are quotes from the ad. "One for me one for you" "Do it solo or with a friend." Im assuming you are personally endorsing this product????????? And no.. Iam not purchasing any.
  8. Are they, or the state, planning on stocking trout in Clear Creek??
  9. Really a great job and good pictures to document it. Cant wait to see it for myself. Its projects like this that make me wish I lived further north so I would have more opportunities to help.
  10. It was a lot of fun and you always learn something at one of these events. This year one of the fisheries guys showed us a water scorpion. They look almost like a walking stick but thier two front appendages have tiny stingers. Trent informed us that the blood coming from the gills of the smallmouth I'm holding was caused by all the mud in the water.
  11. November meeting will be held in Peoria at Gander Mountain at 6:30 P.M. No agenda yet but stay tuned.
  12. Clinton Lake, thats the third time Ive heard that. But I have never heard of a documented smallie being taken out of it. I have fished the upper end where the Salt comes into the lake, alot, and never caught bronze. That was BISA. If some one out there knows something I dont please inform me here or PM me. Iam curious now.
  13. And to think I was getting a slight rush paddling the White River in Arkansas in my solo with two generators on.
  14. I was okay with the camera until the last shot. Something went really wrong with that picture.
  15. Went out Friday to do alittle fishing. The largest fish of the day at this point was self released after a short battle and for some reason I checked my hook on the back of my thumb and it felt a little dull. "Oh well maybe not" I commented to myself. Next cast I had on an even larger customer and we had quit a struggle and I thought I had him and he threw the hook. After a bit of thrashing around in the water, by me, I checked the fly and changed it. I have never owned a hook sharpener and I dont think I have ever lost a fish because of a dull hook but maybeeeee. Can someone help me here? I need a good product and just as importantly good instructions to use it.
  16. Gregg, I have been using a 14' 6" Kevlar solo for 3 years and believe me it has not been babied at all. The shiney jellcoat is off the bottom and the fibers do show but I dont think its structurally damaged. I have been thinking about contacting Wenonah and ordering the mix and recoating the bottom. No reason why you couldnt do the same thing with fiberglass when you get to that point. Who makes the boat you are refering to?
  17. That sure looks like the Oakwood Illinois sewage treatment plant outfall. If its not they are twins down to the pipe and the gravel bar. The first time I ran across "the green water" I took a sample and was going to report it until I looked at the area on Google Earth and saw the water retention ponds above the bluff. I was suprised to see a number of minnows swimming around in the stuff without any obvious stress.
  18. Yikes! Are you kidding me?????????? Tell me he didnt bury an eye bolt in the front bumper for the tie down. I cant believe they make a rack for it. Well I guess I have seen Porsche's with ski's on the top.
  19. Mike, Thule and Yakama make racks for almost any vehicle sold here in the U.S. I love pontoons on the White River in Arkansas but for our waters, as previously written, to slow and hard to manuver. Besides the time needed to set up and tear down. A Royalex material solo canoe is an excellent choice for our streams.
  20. I developed a little tendonitis here late in the season after a week of flyfishing and paddling. Your exercise gave me immediate relief of the discomfort I was having, with my arm at rest anyway. I will keep it up and see if it is a permanent solution. Thanks Doc
  21. Tim I will be off both days. I will contact you when I get back from Arkansas.
  22. Good photos all. I noticed you got the kid packing a third grip, good job.
  23. Jeff great to have you aboard, to bad you cant make the outing Saturday. You would have made a welcome addition and gotten to meet some of our members. Keep an eye on the calendar (located in the upper right corner), we will be starting our central winter meetings in November. You might even beable to hook up with Tim Smith to drive togeather.
