  1. ISA Membership Drive 2021

    IMG_3409.jpg

After a one year pause on membership fees due to the Covid pandemic, the ISA is pleased to announce its Membership Drive for this summer.  As part of the membership drive, the ISA will lower its membership dues to $20 for one year membership.

As an additional incentive to renew your membership, ISA members who renew their membership as part of the Membership Drive this summer will also receive a raffle ticket good for a chance to win one of 5 custom made Chippewa Falls Smallmouth Rods (see photos attached) donated  to the ISA by longtime member Jeff Tallis.  The beautiful custom made rods are 6’8” Medium XF custom rods with the ISA name and logo placed on them.  These are must have rods for any ISA smallmouth fishermen.  Other prizes will also be given away as part of the raffle drawings.

We will conduct three raffle drawings this summer to be held on June 1, July 1 and August 1, 2021. The August 1, 2021 raffle drawing will be conducted live at the ISA Picnic this summer at the Glenwood Forest Preserve near Batavia on August 1, 2021.    We will give away one rod each at the June 1 and July 1 drawings and 3 rods at the August 1 live picnic drawing.  Please contact myself, Alan Sherman or Terry Dodge with any questions about the membership drive and raffle.

The ISA is also pleased to announce that during the month of May, it will be partnering with the Lombard Orvis store as part of the Orvis Giveback Days program, which runs from May 1 – May 31st. As part of the program, for any donation of $10 or more, an Orvis customer will receive a $10 savings card good toward any full price apparel purchase during the month of May. Last year Orvis donated over $1000 to the ISA as part of this Giveback Days program, so please get to the Orvis store this month to make your purchases and help out the ISA at the same time.

  2. We’re back at it. The Northwest Region hosted a Kishwaukee River float trip on Saturday, April 24th. This was the first official outings event the ISA has held since the pandemic hit shortly after the 2020 Bronzeback Blowout. We had a total of 8 casters covering 3 sections of the Kish from seven different boats. Myself, Eugene, Steve and Jim floated the mid section of the Kish with Eugene having the hot reel for the day pulling in a total that dipped well into double-digits. All in this group landed smallies and all enjoyed an absolutely beautiful day with beautiful weather.

Bart and Eric G. took their kayaks to Belvidere and did a float of the Kishwaukee north branch while Paul and Kevin D. headed south to toss theirs into a section of the Kish south of Rockford. Those guys will have to fill you all in on how they all did with the catching and releasing on their sections of river.

Certainly could not have asked for a better day.
