  1. The Kish is pretty high and dirty right now, your right Terry. I was asking about the Winnebago county area of the Kish, and the Antioch area of the Fox. I guess I should have clarified. But I think you guys answered my question. Thanks guys.
  2. Can anyone who has fished both the fox and the Kishwaukee rivers give me a water clarity comparison? Just curious. I know that it varies on any water, but a general idea would be great. Thanks.
  3. Post on here if you could, I would love to help with that.
  4. In-Fisherman is one of the only multi species mags that have any weight to them. They are pretty good though. The best bass magazine in my opinion is FLW's magazine, but all the tips in that mag come from the pros on tour so you see very much fly-fishing or multi species. I too get a few mags.
  5. Now that's some funny stuff, maybe they're tired from missing that extra hour of sleep.LMAO

    Kilbuck?

That's what I was thinking. Thanks Paul.
  7. I too have a small collection of fishing songs. Some of my favorites are "Great American Fisherman" (it's the theme to Roland Martin's show), Brad Paisley's "I'm going to miss her", and my top pick, "Gone Fishing" by Louis Armstrong and Bing Crosby.

    Kilbuck?

I think I just fished Kilbuck creek. It was about 3 miles west of Monroe center Illinois on 72. Anyone ever fish this water or know if it holds any good fish? I only fished it for about 20mins before some training and didn't catch anything.

    Rod Holder

It's a foam simming pool noodle cut into 4in sections then slit down the middle. I screwed them from the inside into the board. Yes, the rods get pushed into the cut in the foam noodle and it seals back up once the rod is in the middle. Works perfect, and doesn't damage the rod or the line.

    Rod Holder

I hear yah. Once I get my other Baitcsters up and replace my older son's recently broken rod it will be full. But I don't need the entire garage wall . Yet:D. One thing that's hard to do for a fisherman is getting rid of old fishing stuff. I imagine it will accumulate.

    Rod Holder

I'll have to try it. Thanks Terry.
  12. This is my new homemade rod-holder. I still have a couple more baitcasters to string and add but it's up and ready. Works like a beauty (a bit ugly though). I imagine I'll get around to sanding and finishing it someday. Just about have all of my poles restrung, bought the wife a vest for the canoe, and a few new lures to play with, and have my first couple of spots planned out. I'm ready for wading again. Hmmm? Sorry for that. Not sure why the photo posted so big. Any suggestions? Guess you'll have to zoom out to 50% for now.
  13. Took the fam into Cabelas today in Hoffman estates. Wound up getting there at feeding time for the fish in the tanks. Everything from crappie minnows to 6inch creek chubs were eatin by bass, pike, walleye, carp, catfish, gar, bluegill, crappie, perch, and even a drum. My boys loved it(and me too). Well we ended up leaving with a new life jacket for the wife, 2 new sleeping bags for the kids, and a new Sammy for me. Man I can't believe how far down boats have come in price. There were some really nice ones. We're slowly getting ready for our trip to Lake of the Ozarks in June. I"d better get to practicing.
  14. Thanks for the work on keeping us posted Terry. A good habitat with a strong consistant forage base and you have yourself an outstanding fishery.
  15. Great story. James Lindner is coming to the Rockford boat and fishing show this year and doing a meet and greet. I hope to meet him and possibly get a picture.
  16. Hmmm, interesting. I caught one on the Fox in Wisconsin up by Montello when I was about 12 yrs old. Only about 26 inches. I had never seen one until then, and never since, (in person).
  17. The closest thing to a celebrity fisherman that I've talked to would be Ted Peck. He was fairly local for a while, then he branched out and got a few tv spots. He used to fish the BassHawgs tournaments on the Rock every year too. I have also met a celebrity that fishes and that's John Mahone. I met him in Delavin on my way to launch. He was heading out with someone I didn't recognize but we talked for a few minutes. He's the dad from the show Frasier by the way. By Martin brothers do you mean Rolands boys Scott and his brother? And the Lindners, man that's awesome.
  18. That sounds great Jude, I'll keep in touch with you to set it up. Thanks for all the help and tips guys. I've always believed that there is just something about a community of outdoorsman that sets us apart in some ways, and you guys prove it every post.
  19. Anyone know where abouts this area (Rockford) has flytieing equipment. I looked at Gander Mountains website and saw different fly materials but know vice, or thread tool. So if anyone knows where I can find the tools I would appreciate it, this is a new endeavor I have been thinking about. Thanks and remember "Good things come to those who wade".
  20. Thanks for the replies guys, I imagine the guy at Gander Mountain was right. As soon as teh river is clear I'll take you up on that Jude. I'd like to float thrugh the gorge this year. Regardless of how good the fishing is there, it is one of the prettiest spots in Rockford I think. From the bridge anyhow.
  21. There is a pole in the bottom of the canoe I just bought and I'm not sure what it's for. I thought at first that it was a standard canoe pole for steering and such but it is mounted under the seats and I see no way to remove it. It slides freely back and forth too. Thanks.
  22. My go-to baits around here are the fluke (in baby bass or pearl), and just about anything Gitzit makes, especialy their in-line spinners. Next year I'm looking to master the shaky head.
  23. My first canoe. It's in very good shape and good size. The price was also right. I'm stoked to explore new water. It's a Colorado Pelican. Whatever that means. The white stuff is snow, and it needs a wipedown but there aren't even any scuffs.
  24. I'll be dirty, and I'll be just barely on time (getting off work by the airport @6:30), but I'll be there.
  25. Well that's too bad. I have the same problem with speeding yachts on Lake Geneva.
