  1. I'm looking to get into fishing the faster current this coming season. And not just on top, suspended, or free rolling, but on the bottom bolder bouncing! I found last year that this was failry productive. Almost as much so as seams, eddies, and slack water. I also caught some walleye doing this which was fun. I primarily just used a 1/2-3/4 ounce football jig tipped with various craw imitations. I also used a shaky head w/worm which is one of my favorite LM baits. Problem is I lost probably 10$ or more a day to snags I couldn't always retrieve. My question is: Is there a better setup/retrieve that I could use to help me not lose so many lures? Thanks

    Waders

I have a pair of Hodgman mfg code 205 waders I got for Christmas 12 years ago. They've actually probably only seen 3 or 4 good solid years of use but they have no leaks or pinholes. It's a 90-10 blend of Neoprene-Nylon. They are warm in the summer but to tell you the truth, if it's over 85 out I don't wear waders anyhow. The boots are part of the waders and non-detachable (no problems with traction). A big key in preventing leaks and pinholes is storage. I reccomend that they are kept hanging up at all times when not in use and never folded or tossed on the ground for long. You have a lot of great replies above, this is just my 2 cents. Hope it helps.
  3. Great replies. I've noticed the grubs too, especially for pike. Inline spinners as well. Man I can't believe I didn't think to put that down. Stopped using them late this spring because I wanted to find other confidence baits. Lots o white bass on the Kish with em.
  4. What is the luer that you most regularly (while bronzeback hunting) catch the wrong species on? For me it's got to be the shaky head worm. Cat fish love this thing, and if I pick it up and drop it a lot, the walleyes seem to as well.
  5. Mike. That's a great idea.
  6. Thanks Paul. I'll make it there over the next couple of weaks and give a report.
  7. I would like to fish the Kish in the gorge under the I-39 bridge. I was wondering where the closest place to put in is and if this has any good fishing. Also is it wadeable? Thanks for any info.
  8. Mission accomplished there lol. We've all done it.
  9. Great work Terry, proud to have fished with you.
  10. I agree with Eric. Also just to be safe, I bet on Pearl/white most of the time. I figure that the belly of almost every fish in our region (and most regions for that matter) is some shade of white or silver with possibly a bit of yellow/orange. This would also cover most frogs. Black has also worked for me, esspecialy buzzbaits, but that's a reaction bait anyhow.
  11. Still waiting for one of those days with smallies . Good post.
  12. Sounds like I have some great places to start. Thanks guys. I'm not a big fan of the cross lock snap swivels. It's just a confidence thing as I'm sure they really don't have that much of an impact on your catch rate.
  13. Hey guys, I'm looking for a way to take an extra rod/reel with me on wades. I was thinking of a strap or harness that would hold it across your back like quiver of arrows. Does anyone else do this or maybe have a DIY blueprint idea?
  14. That's cool. Pics would be great. I'm definately going to the next one. Do they except canoes?
  15. Does anyone remember a post that was on the forums some months back about a kayak bass fishing tournament trail that was going to be coming to the Rock river?
  16. I'm really going to try to make it. I may bring my boys in our canoe to help. Should be a good teaching oppurtunity;)
  17. Thanks Jude. Yeah my dad sure had one heck of a day. He just got his boat all fixed up. Picked it up today from the marina I think.
  18. Monday started out very sad. Got a call from my wife saying that we had sold the boat. Not selling the canoe. I held a very sentimental attachment to that boat for many reasons. But it was just becoming too much work and costly to keep it running. We also didn't get what it was worth which I expected. On the other hand, once I sold it I took the money and bought myself a new baitcasting reel and spinning rod that I've needed to finish combos. I bought a couple of lures that are kind of expensive and have never been able to justify buying. I took the family to a nice dinner which we havn't done in a while, then gave the wife some cash for new clothes (mega brownie points). I also fixed some little things around the house. I miss the boat, but some of the best memories of my life are in that boat and are burned forever in my mind. I look forward to giving my kids in the future a boat that they can feel that same way about someday. Thanks grandpa for everything you did for me. Tight lines and may you rest in peace.
  19. Great to hear from you guys. I'd love to see a pic of your pontoon Terry if you have one. I will make it out on a Kish float trip or 5 this year I promise. Just wading the river has been pretty good to me so far.

    Vacation

Hey guys, just figured I'd ask for some tips. I'm trying to find a good campground to take my family to this summer. Fishing is number 2 priority, fun for the kids is number 1 (they can have fun fishing ). Travel is Lake of the Ozarks/Kentucky lake for maximum distance. That's kind of what we're thinking. Any good experiences are appreciated.
  22. I'll do my best to make it, were having a garage sale this weekend. The fishing on the Kish has really been picking up lately though.
  23. My wife and I stayed there for our anniversary this year and our room came with a canow rental. I want to say that all of there rooms do. I didn't get to fish it but it's beautiful. Good luck, and let us know.
