john w. Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 The ISA got a mention in the January/February 2012 issue of In-Fisherman. In his article "Trending Smallmouth," Steve Quinn describes various ways and locations in which to catch smallies. In a section on river fishing (p. 27), he says, "...members of the Illinois Smallmouth Alliance ply the creeks near Chicago and find excellent bass fishing. They use small aluminum boats, canoes, and kayaks, or else wade. Their organization has a core group of enthusiasts that keep the message of conservation, communication, and fellowship alive. They support many river improvement activities and have workshops and other activities for members." Quote
John Gillio Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 It was a good article. Nice to see mention, in such a large publication, of the work done by many of the ISA members to improve and protect our state's smallmouth streams. Did IN-FISHERMAN talk to one of our Officers, or did they take notice of the ISA in one of the fine publications put out by the organization? Quote
Scott Ferguson Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 We've had Steve Quinn, and Matt Straw as speakers at the Blowout where they learned about us and they've been on the mailing list for the newsletter ever since. Quote
John Gillio Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 Thanks Scott, that answers that. Quote
Mike G Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 Perhaps a small sign at our booths should say, "As mentioned in In-Fisherman." Or should In-Fisherman brag that we mentioned them in this thread. Quote
Norm M Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 You could put copies of this article and the one in the June/july 2003 article at the booth. Quote
