Cranes

1:30 PM 12/7/2016 Three large flocks of cranes flew over the casa heading due south and making that crazy cool sound !

I love that sound! It's amazing how loud they are. Often I'll hear them and think they're nearby, then barely be able to spot them way up there.

Somehow it makes me have hope for the world knowing you have a dog named Rusty !

As an avid birdwatcher, I too find the sandhill crane one of God's amazing creatures ... I tell you what.

Did you know there is a hunting season in several states?

I missed them this fall, but this spring I saw them heading north for the first time. Soooo far up there and still easy to hear.

 

Wonder how many years I walked the dog looking down and missed them.

In a wetland area of the lake I fish, I've seen a pair of Sandhills every spring that I assume nest there. Here is one of them

Couple/few hundred of those buggers making lots of noise and flying pretty darn low in Lombard around noon headed North.
