I did go to southernmost point which is in that film. There were some bona fide "beach bums" hanging around offering to take your picture. Think "the Dude" only less hygienic. So I handed the guy my totally manual Nikon SLR. It's really old school. No autofocus or exposure. He was actual a little insulted when I tried to explain how to set the camera. To my suprise the pic was perfectly exposed and pin sharp. I remember going to the bar Hemingway used to hang out in. Chickens walking around in the street, if I remember right that was on Duvall Street also in the film.

Thanks. those guys look like they could be rock musicians. I spent a day in Key West about 20 years ago. It was interesting, but very touristy and didn't quite have the character they are portraying in this film.

It looks totally sweet, I have it on a FF755 that I think is the older one with the translucent orange blank. A little louder than Battenkills. But I don't have line on it. I think line will muffle it some.

Realize it's only cosmetics but I dig the retro 70's writing. On another note I just bought this on Ebay.

This is what the butterstick I saw in person looked like a month or so ago at Sierra trading post. It was a discontinued model. I don,t know if there was one prior.

Sorry Rob, I got it wrong. It's a different model. It's the trailblazer. I saw the 4wt Butterstick in person the older one. It was very short and slow action, but very nicely made. The buttersticks were a black and off white with 70's retro logos. Sierra trading post had them for $150 a month or so ago. i saw a 4wt in the store. I think they changed the color to some outlandish flouro scheme.

Greatly enjoying a borrowed vintage Fenwick FF756 but only in ponds. I have not caught a smallie with one. Judging by the fight a bluegill puts up it would be a blast. My goal is to find a rod that would ride the fence between bass and bluegills. One to keep in the car all the time. This is comming close. I'm not sure if Fenwick had a FF765 or if this is a typo. Something along this line is pretty cool. He says to use 6/0 thread and body hair. I used gsp and belly hair. Belly hair is more hollow so it floats more. He says: This is a relatively small deer hair bug. I would recommend using deer body hair rather than deer belly or elk hair. Deer body hair will pack much tighter in the small space allowed for the collar and head because it's not as coarse. you do you. Deer hair packer (Fugly) , Whiting Farms Bugger Packs- Olive and brown, a whopper popper and a Berkley Line counter. Several Cabelas - Bass Pro cards, of which I am thinking about spending on a Garmin Striker 4 for my Sylvania trips. Oh, and a Yeti tumbler/ coffee cup- in olive green. Just so people know I am a serious outdoors guy. Actually my youngest bought me that on his own. I thought that was pretty cool. My wife's side of the family is tech savy and they came up with a website called "CheckedTwice". It's basically a gift registry linked to amazon or whatever the place on the web the item is found. At first I was like "well that's pretty commercial" , but now I think it's great. The stuff I put on there is not super expensive and it's pretty cool to get stuff you can actually use. Once you get everyone on board it works really well.

I didn't know this was thing. A baitcast system developed in Japan to throw really light lures. I won't be investing in this even though I love fishing for bluegills and crappies. I have way too much stuff already.. None the less I thought it was interesting. This is a good overview. Bait Finesse System (finesse-fishing.com) So a reel differs in that the spool is much lighter, often drilled and has a large arbor so it doesn't have much line capacity. I think the idea is so that does not require a lot of force at the beginning of a cast. There are a zillion videos on YT , many reviews. They sell lots of this stuff on Amazon- pretty cheap. There is way more on alieexpress. If it's made there is probably a review on YT. The JDM (Japan Domestic Market) gear is really expensive. Anyway, I thought it was kind of interesting.

Yeah it is a shock. I talked to him a couple times at shows. He was nice. I bought this book when it came out in about 1990.
