  5. I got to know Bob over the years of planting the Fox but only got to fish with him once this summer with Rich & Ed. We will continue to plant water willows & remember who taught us the value of improving habitat one area, one thousand plants at a time. He will be missed but the seed of his view of the rivers we all love to fish has taken root.
  6. Good event, early drizzle. 31+ attended most stayed for the whole morning. Best new rod IMHO Sage X series, great fast rod with feel & Redington Predator 7 & 9 wt. - great rods for a great price both brought by Jeremy @ Dupage Fly. Liked the Orvis Recon 7 wt. brought by Tim from Yorktown store plus the Orvis superfine glass. Bob D. brought a sweet Winston 5wt. I put out vintage glass Phillipson, Silaflex, & Fishers. Best glass rod there was (again) Ed B. Orvis Fullflex 6 wt. late 60's rod. Doug Taylor had new switch & spey Sage rods & spent the whole morning teaching 2 handed casting. Many thanks to the core members who always help plus a reminder to shop local whenever you can - Dupage Fly Fishing Co. & Orvis Yorktown both have good people with lots of knowledge, always willing to share. John
  7. Tomorrow - Orvis Yorktown will bring some rods too. Weather looks good - see y'all there. John

  10. Ten volunteers planted 684 water willow & 128 lizard's tail yesterday from 8 til noon. Just downstream from last years site on the West Branch Dupage in Warrenville. Although I did not check myself Jesse Demartini, head of the Urban Stream Reseach Center, said the last years planting is doing great. There's alot more river to plant in coming years just in the restored area. We will continue to work this stretch of the Dupage along with the Fox in the future. Thanks to all who helped as we restore some of the native habitat on our local rivers.
  11. I'll be there with spades. If we make it past today without 1" of rain we're looking good. It looks like mild temps which helps the work go faster. We should grab some lunch afterwards.
  12. Way to go again, Eric. Nice to see a father & son team do well. Good numbers of fish considering how hot it was.
  13. Next spring - bring it to the C & C on 9/10/16 at Glenwood FP I'd like to see it!

  16. Yes to breakfast. I'll bring my Tarpon yak. Scott bring a check I have a few small expenses, lunch from planting & material for spawning benches. I'll have receipts & totals.
  17. Ditto, Bill. Watch it anyway for infection to be safe. Lots of stuff growing in the river. Good luck up north, catch some big ones.
  18. Some numbers - 19 planted 988 water willows & 152 lizards tail at two locations. Downstream at Lippold park 2/3 of the willows, some of the crew missed the turn & had a little longer walk. Better trail marking next time. The rest went by the old lower dam where we augmented plants from the last two years. These plants have grown in faster than any of the sites in Montgomery & Aurora. The river is wider with more meanders than in alot of the area. Don't buy cheap charcoal, it took an hour to get the grill going which was more a wood fire by that point. Thanks to all who came & helped. Come see these plants while fishing sometime. Slowly the river is looking more like it used to & the fish will benefit. Mark - we have planted the fox every year since starting. Last year we added the West Branch Dupe which we will repeat on 7/30. Come out & join us again sometime. Bill - I hope your cut heals up fast. John
  19. Two more days - river is up a little but looking good. We still need help, cool temps & partly cloudy means good fishing after lunch. Our planting at Lippold is a great spot with lots of structure, good chance to learn some new water. BTW theres too many muskie in this pool in MHO.
  20. The ISA will once again be hosting the Casting Field for the Sgt. Tommy's Kids Fishing Day at Herrick Lake in Wheaton. Please RSVP if you are able to lend a hand!! mikeclifford2@gmail.com
  21. River levels are down & we'll plant 1000 water willow next Saturday 7/9/16 8 AM start. Meet at Glenwood FP in Batavia we will plant some there & more downstream in Lippold park. Also some lizards tail to see how they do. Lunch provided afterwards at the shelter in Glenwood. Please pm if coming so I can plan lunch. Fish after if its not too hot. John L.
