Cranberry Creek---- Cadott Wi. GP

I was able to help with the shocking of Cedar Creek, a tributary of the Pecatonica, this Thursday for a couple of hours. Met the esteemed Tim Smith. We manned the large dip nets and collected the stunned fish behind the shocking rods carried upstream by the gents from the IDNR. Gathered a fair quantity of suckers, shiners, creek chubs, dace, stonerollers and a couple of other species I can't remember. No smallmouth--but Cedar Creek was pretty. I think environment and perhaps genetic sub-species have the most effect on the ability of fish to get 20"and above. Add angling mortality for good measure. All of these fish are at least 18', all were caught "up north" in various locations. The other other fellow is my brother Jim, check out THAT fish !! Jonn, I floated the Grant 2-3 years ago from Co. Rd. U to Ridge Rd. The river was high and it poured rain for about 30 minutes while I was on the river. I did not catch any fish, but I know this is good smallie water and I will float it again. The river has some great rock formations, beautiful aesthetics in general. Have fun and good luck. Gordon

The dupe is currently at 2,200 cfs ! With no serious rain in the forecast, does anyone have a good guesstimate of the rate of drop? Is it overly optimistic to expect it to be fishable by Mon? I'll be checking the USGS webpage but even if it gets down to say, 500 cfs, will it run relatively clear? I made my first casts of '07 on Tues. Waded the Kish by the Lib Conservation Area off Newburg Rd. for about 45 mins. River was high and wading was a bit difficult ( I'm mostly a canoe fisherman,I'll wet wade in summer ) got water in my waders and caught no fish but it felt great nontheless!
