  1. I do that............................
  2. Slow ? Why I can run the mile in under uh, 30 minutes ? And Mr. Smarty Pants, try playing one of yer rootin-tootin, horny horn solos without a bass player and see if anyone dances !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Got mixed feelings about it as well--I don't like the way it packs on the spool.
  4. Point taken, I agree with your assessment about braids. No problems with the Suffix so far. Even though mono "doesn't twist by itself" I think the dark forces of the universe are in collusion here!!
  5. I, of course, meant spinning and not "spincasting" Got your Abu-Garcia 170 ??
  6. Lee's Bait and Tackle 49 Arlington Heights Rd. Elk Grove Village. Great selection of stuff--Lots Of cool/exotic Japanese plastics , got the Standing Yabbies there. Only N. American dealer of the Kulik Slammer ( a goby/sculpin imitator, the subject of a current In-Fisherman article ) Nice well-informed staff.
  7. Last year on the trip I took with Paul T. he said: "death before mono" . I think I now ( after 40 years + of fishing ) heartily agree. I have used both mono ( duh, of course ) and "superbraids" over the years, the braids mostly for baitcasting, and this year I wanted to experiment with different mono's to see if I could find one that didn't eventually end up a birds-nest. Tried Yo-Zuri Hybrid-- Nope. P-Line , Nope. Bought some Suffix Braid ( plugged by Larry Dahlberg as good for spincasting as well ) YESSSSSSS!! Works great for spinning, casts a bloody mile, no twist !!! Great Googly Moogly!!
  8. Think I'm gonna order some.......................
  9. Pro-Cure crawfish sauce --- it's the bomb, the shite, the goods etc
  10. Well put, a thank you, however is always a nice gesture................................. GP
  11. I should be good for this...................I am not receiving new topic notifications ?????? GP
  12. A bunch of good stuff here,my only comment is that for me, Kayaks are too low to the water. As a means of transport to get to spots to wade, they are superior to canoes, but I like the higher perspective you have in a canoe. You have a larger area to view and from a higher angle. I also like to stand and cast. Paul T has been in my Cranberry Creek canoe, and tho we didn't do a lot of simultaneous standing, he'll tell you how stable it is. When I'm solo, I stand all the time, even in moderate current with no fear of dumping. It weighs 62 lbs. and I have no problem putting it on my roof rack myself. I put a middle seat in mine and I use a Kayak paddle and can move at a pretty good clip, though it will never be as fast as a 'yak. Something to think about................
  13. I should be able to help. Hey, I haven't been getting any email notifications.
  14. I want to invite all members to a party I'm having April 12. I realize for a lot of you a drive to Chicago for a night of carousing might be difficult but your still invited ! Below is the email I sent to friends and family. Cheers, Gordon Friends, OK listen up. I turn the ripe old age of 50 in April and before senile dementia sets in I want to throw the Mother of all parties. So here's the deal, April 12th, at Martyrs 3855 N. Lincoln Chicago. At least 7 bands I have worked with over the years will perform including the reunion of the Remainders who haven't performed since 1993. NO Cover ! Music will start at 8:30 and go to the wee hours so you working musicians out there can come late and hang. Heres the link to Martyrs website http://www.martyrslive.com/ scroll down to April 12th for a little blurb and complete list of performers. Hope to see you, it's gonna be a hoot! PS you can RSVP if you want to. Gordon
  15. A change in pitch to a lower frequency with an increase it transient attack coupled with a raise in volume might be a reasonable analogy. Dennis De Young was your music teacher !? GP
  16. Look for me between 11-12 to help set up. Gordon
  17. The last 3 years I have volunteered at the Wisconsin River Alliance Booth--I am a member. If you go check 'em out, a great organization and Canoecopia is great if you are looking for a river craft. Gordon
