  1. Thanks Terry for organizing this. It turned out great. It was rewarding watching the young kids get so excited about seeing the creatures seined from the river.
  2. I will be able to help out. Where do we meet and what time?
  3. Congratulations! Nice looking fish.
  4. Great job guys. Nice to see you putting the old canoe to such good use, Tim.
  5. Hopefully this time
  6. OK Mike. Here is a photo.
  7. Thanks Norm. I'll try those ideas.
  8. I was given several lures last year a my retirement party. The above in-line spinner with a single hook has proven very effective, so I wanted to locate a store I could buy more. Unfortunately, I could not find any at BP, Cabela's or local tackle shops. The lure came with a fact sheet that listed Family Services Agency Inc. in Elwood IL for comments and catalogs. The phone # given is no longer in service. A Google search finds nothing; the woman who gave me the lure did not no where it was purchased. Does any member of the ISA have any information on this company?

    Bamboo Rod

I tried to attach a picture, just one, but it was too many bites. I'll have to do more research on how to do this.

    Bamboo Rod

I was cleaning up my rods and tackle today and came upon a rod that was my grandfather's. The trade mark on the rod is D E inside a diamond shape with an arrow across the D & E. Grandpa died in 1949 which was before I was born. The rod has its own case, a wood cylinder that the rod sections are fitted into and strapped into. The rod is 9 ft long has two tips with the only line guides being at the end of each tip. The two tips was common for rods back in the 30's and 40's. The rod needs to be refurbished. Is there any place in the Chicago area that does this type of work?
  11. It was great to see you guys Sat. and thanks for all the fly tying material. The food was delicious.
  12. I'm planning on coming to breakfast. Either location is OK with me. Pat
  13. Thanks Rob. I bought a cheap pair of sun glasses that go over my prescription pair. I chose a set that were as light in tint as was available from the vendor. I'll let you know how they work out later this year.
  14. Thanks Mike. I wear prescription glasses with the transitions coloring - they tint in the sunlight but are not polarized. I have tried wearing polarized sunglasses over them, but this creates a problem in that they still tint which makes everything too dark. I'll have to look into this new technology.
  15. I'll be there. I don't own a "hair packer". Can we borrow one from another tier?
  16. I live in Mchenry County and the local paper had an article on the show about a month afterwards. The Woodstock Rotary Club sponsored it. According to the newspaper the club thought it was too much work for their limited membership to continue and this was their reason for discontinuing.

I have not fished in Carpentersville but at the dam in Algonquin. Never had much luck. Carpentersville has a dam on the river which gets fished hard I understand, during the week there are not as many people, usually.
  18. Rob G. just a question: if it was in 4 1/2 ft. of water how did you pick it up without getting water in your waders? I'm not trying to be funny just interested if you have some trick on this I could use.
  19. Thanks guys. I very much enjoy the magazine and look forward to it as most of the members do.
