Hi everyone. I have only ever fished for smallies with a fly rod. I am thinking that for kayak fishing the spinning rod may be a bit easier. What would you recommend for a good "all around" smallie spinning rod? I am particularly looking for length and action, not necessarily for a name brand. Growing up all we had was Garcia reels, so I will probably stick with what I know and go with Garcia. Thanks!

I have a bamboo rod that should be finished around my anniversary in June. The builder is Walter Babb of Sweetwater, TN. I can not wait to get this rod! I spent about 3 hours at Walter's house in December casting various rods.

I bought the ladder racks from Menards. Two bolts to the wall and voila! You could do one set low and one set high to make room for 2 yaks.

Gentlemen, I was just contacted by our clubhouse manager and someone has reserved the clubhouse this weekend for a party. I was not paying to rent the space there for the paying customer gets priority over us.

I am an elder at the Oswego Presbyterian Church and therefore I would like to move this event to our church. The address of the church is 1976 US Highway 25 Oswego Illinois 60543.

Sorry for the last minute change. Usually the clubhouse does not get booked up in the winter months. If you were planning on coming to this event please either respond here that you acknowledge the change in address or send me a private message.

John, I didn't realize the DRIFT auction was on the 20th. I assume several of our members will be at that event. How about we change the date to Feb 27th so maybe more people don't have to choose between two things?

On February 20th (Saturday), let's get together from 8am-ish to Noon-ish and tie some flies to donate to the Blowout. John L has said that in the past this was done and I would like to bring this event back. This will be open tying. Hopefully we can get a mix of guys tying trout flies, bluegill flies, and of course bass flies. This event will be held in my subdivision in Oswego (The Hunt Club), at our clubhouse so there will be plenty of room for folks to tie. Once people sign up here I will update this original post with names. Thank you to everyone who can make it!

I have an almost new Fish Cat 4 for sale. It has NEVER been on the water. I bought it on a whim at Cabelas with some points and never took it out. It had air in it and was on the display when I bought it. I let the air out of it and have not aired it back up since. I paid $149+Taxes. I do not have a pump or fins, just the bare boat. Make me an offer. If it is close to what I paid I'm sure we can deal.

Hi guys and gals. I was wondering if there would be any interest in open tying sessions once per month in Oswego. We did this one time last year at my house. Everyone just brought their materials and tied whatever patterns they wanted to. I think a good time was had by all. I was thinking maybe we could do Saturday mornings during the colder months. I travel for work so making it to the sessions during the week is very difficult for me. We could tie at the clubhouse in my community. We have a nice big room there that is well lit with big tables where we can spread out. Would anyone be interested in this type of "freestyle" tying/general camaraderie?
