  1. So, is the fly basically one rabbit strip? thanks
  2. Very nice!! What are you using to secure the eyes on the spun deer hair head>?
  3. Pretty wild around my house. WE are ok and did not suffer any structural damage. Debris found out in my back yard. Tornado came within five miles of my house. Still no power and living in a local hotel.............we were lucky.
  4. Tim: I sent you a PM, but have not heard back. Is your inbox full?
  5. Yah, the 5's are great for smallie flies. The 15 is a disaster waiting to happen..............at least when I am casting the 10 weight.
  6. Are you using the size 10 masks? I tried the size 10 and the largest size and found the largest sized mask is just too much!! I think I will stick with the size 10. That largest mask leads to accidents in the back..................if you know what I mean.
  7. I have been playing with the fish masks as well. I agree with a lot of the stuff you are saying about the eyes thing................if a fish wants to eat, they are going to eat the fly if it has eyes or not. The one thing I wonder about with the fish masks is the idea of weight. It seems it does give some favorable weight to get the fly down a bit farther...........not much more, but a little. Of course, I have noticed the extra weight when casting the fly.................
  8. Yah, it is expensive, but I figure if I ever lost a muskie due to buying inferior hooks, I would never forgive myself.
  9. I discovered this hook while scouring the shelves of BPS. I love it!! I buy the 4/0 and the 5/0 models. I cut off the shrink wrap sleeve that holds the keeper. Big gap and smaller sized barb, which should help with hook penetration.......... http://www.gamakatsu.com/fishing-hooks.php?pid=1048
  10. I have talked to Cory before at a fishing show and was impressed by him. I have his card and he is on my list of guides I would like to fish with.
  11. I am infected and fear there is no cure................except another muskie on the end of the line.
  12. Fun, fun, and more fun at the vise............... Nick Granato's "EL Chupacabra" Giant Graham Shad Articulated "Beuford". "Here Muskie, Muskie"
  13. Rob: I would say you are correct about the gear guys getting away with much clunkier, bigger bite leaders. The neat part about tiger wire and the titanium bite tippets is the fact that they are quite thin and probably not noticeable by the toothy critters. With the propensity of muskie following baits/flies to the boat and really caring less about the boat itself, I doubt that a thin wire bite tippet would spook or turn fish off............... Of course, I am just starting out on the muskie thing, and no little about muskies and how they act. But I have friends that guide and tell me that a muskie is not really afraid of anything....... Be very careful about muskie fly fishing...............if or when you catch one, your life will change significantly. Presently, I am obsessed. I have to catch one by Dec. 1st...............that is my self-imposed goal. If work and money were no object, I would spend the whole month of Oct and Nov in Wisconsin.
  14. Wire tippet for me too. I don't get a lot of chances to hook a muskie on the fly.............I want wire on the end of my line. I use tiger wire or a furled leader with a titinaium bite leader from this company in WI> http://www.blueskyfly.com/bluesky%20fly_005.htm The above leader is very nice.............the titanium tippet resists kinking very well.
  15. Been using it almost since it first came out.................OUTSTANDING LINE!! 20 pound test on baitcasters and 10 pound on my spinning rods. You must be doing something wrong. Check your magnetic settings on your reel.
  16. Hollow style ties are great for Muskie flies where water movement is critical.
  17. Very nice. Question..............are you spinning or stacking the deer hair? How many separate clumps do you use? thanks. jonn
  18. Very neat and clean. My heads normally do not look that good.

    Skiffs

    Ok..........I see.....................thanks for the info.
  20. Ryan: After your recommendation last time, I went ahead and bought the SA sink tip..............very nice. It is the one I use for muskie.

    Skiffs

Checked out the skiff made by Towee. Little confused..............what is better about a skiff when compared to a drift boat?
  22. I use it for muskie fishing. Attach section to my Rio Outbound Short floating fly line. It works ok, but still struggles to pull a big Muskie under the water very far. It is definitely better than not having a sink tip. I bought the sink tip material from SA. It comes super long and then you can cut it and make any length you want. I am considering buying a fly line with the sink tip already integrated. Folks up at the Fly Fishers in Milwaukee are suggesting Air Flo's Streamer Max for Muskie fishing.
