Andy C Posted December 11, 2012 Report Posted December 11, 2012 One of my favorite places to hike and float in southern IL. I wish there was some water so I could float it, and I wish there were some smallies swimming around in it Quote

Mark Lutz Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 Looks quite inviting! I would assume very wadable in summer? Quote
Andy C Posted December 12, 2012 Author Report Posted December 12, 2012 It is wadeable in the headwaters, and there is some really good fishing in the pools. In some places it is nearly a half mile hike in between them, but there are usually some good size LMB. Quote
John Gillio Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 Looks like an area you could spend some time enjoying. Quote

Andy C Posted December 12, 2012 Author Report Posted December 12, 2012 WOW!!!!!! Any Spotted Bass? There are some downstream, but mostly sunfish and LMB in this part of the creek. Quote

Rob G Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 btw, not since I was younger but when the water was up and flowing, I remember that section was quite the shoot right there when canoeing Quote

I haven't attempted it at anything more than 700 CFS at the eddyville bridge, but I know some folks who have paddled it at 3500 and rising! Quote
Bart Durham Posted December 12, 2012 Report Posted December 12, 2012 Beautiful scenery. Hard to believe its in Illinois but southern Illinois has some of the most picturesque scenery I've seen anywhere. Reminds me a bit of Apple River canyon. With rocky bottom and stone cliffs you would think smallmouth would thrive in the stream. Quote
