John. The map on the link is Warrenville.  Everyone can park along Second St. (2nd St.) which is  east of the river and next to the Warrenville Museum and Historical WarrenTavern.  We will be planting  along  the east and west sides of the river upstream of the Warrenville bridge and also downstream of the bridge in various areas. Ill meet you there ( by the museum building) around 8:45am and we can transfer the plants  and other items  (water, gloves, etc.)into my truck.  I will then drive the truck along the trail closer to the river with the  equipment ( dibble bars, etc. ) and plants.  When done, maybe we can have a bite to eat at the Town Tap...  Jess

Post or pm me if you can help. We will have lunch afterwards. This should be an easy one, cool temps & low water levels. Bring waders & gloves.

  7. Timothy take a ride up, see if someone else wants to come with you. It's been a long time since I've visited you central guys to fish or tie. Water is low but its been cool at night for about a week. Fish should be active. For lunch we have some pulled pork BBQ from the Swine cellar. Member Steve Spiz is a cook there, good stuff. Just 4 days from now.

    Glenwood Forest Preserve

    1644 S. River St., Batavia, IL. 60510

Bring one or more of your new or favorite rods to compare to others. This is a great chance to try other rods on the water to see what you like. If you are new to fly fishing come out & learn!

    This fall we have:

Doug Taylor Sage elite pro staff. Doug has Rio line kits to help fit your 2 handed switch & spey rods. Doug is an accomplished 2 hand caster & will also offer casting tips.

Jeremy from Dupage Fly Fishing is bringing rods from GLoomis, Sage & Scott.

Ike from Orvis Yorktown is bringing some new Orvis rods.

John Loebach, ISA - I'll bring an Echo Bad Ass Glass 8wt., Orvis Superfine glass 5,6, & 8wt. plus some vintage 70,s Phillipson & Fisher rods.

We’ll also have a raffle of donated gear during lunch to cover expenses.

Masks & social distancing requested. All outside event - hope to see you there.

  9. Rio I think makes short sinking leader sections . Loop to loop on your floating line,  add 2' of tippet & you're done. the good thing is you can switch back to a regular leader easily. I tend to fish sinking line in still water. Tim's right about intermediate for flowing water.

  10. A cool & at times wet morning. Seven enjoyed the time casting, twice that many  custom bamboo rods in the rack. We had three deer graze the lawn for awhile across from the pavilion & pass back through later. Thanks to Jeff Fox for organizing & Bruce Olson for help setting up. Gordon Koppin brought out his tri-hex 6 weight rod a rare build with great action. This is likely the last activity for some time as the Early show is cancelled until a less covid time.

  12. To those of you who came to the September cast and compare on the fox river at Glenwood Park know what a success it was. So I decided to try the cane rod makers outing on Saturday morning October 17 - 8:00am until noon. That is Glenwood Park mile and a half south of the town of Batavia on route 25. Masks, gloves, and any other safety attire you would like as welcome.

  13. Good turnout - 21 signed in plus a few more. Rain wasn't too bad & it stopped by 10:30. Both shops brought some great new gear and Doug Taylor helped with spey casting lessons. It was good to see some familiar faces but there were 7 who were first time at the event.  Thank you to all who came and to Jeremy & Zach from Dupage Fly & Ike from Orvis.
