    Fair price?

No commercially produced fly. Prices on some premium materials are outrageous. I know I could save a bit by tying with lesser materials but the tying is also for my enjoyment. Gamakatsu hook x 2, ep sparkle brush, clear cure dumbells, rabbit strip, and some senyo dubbing. I am pushing 3 dollars in materials, and if I sold them my time is not included yet.
  2. I do often finish my trips very hungry...hmmm.
  3. The ccg dumbells at too narrow for a 1/0 for my tastes I don't think the smallies care. They are living eyes with zap a gap gel and hard as nails coating. For size 4 and 6 I use the ccg dumbells.
  4. I have the orvis digital camp sling and I absolutely love it. What is nice is everything is always upright, no worries about stuff falling out and it has tons of convenient spaces to put forceps and such.
  5. My take on a shad colored murdich minnow. I am heading up to White Lake this weekend for a wedding. Hopefully I can dip a few of these for some smallies.
  6. How could I get a copy this magazine?
  7. I am trying to expand my fishing opportunities legally. I noticed that what is sometimes referred to as the Mazon River is classified as the Illinois river on google.maps. This raises some interesting access questions. Am I allowed to legally enter(public land) the "Mazon" river and canoe it? Here is the map I was referring to. https://www.google.com/maps/@41.2892472,-88.364307,16z
  8. I live near a few quarries that have largemouth and smallmouth bass in them. The only issue is that the desirable fish (18+) tend to hang out in deeper areas. Anyone have any tips for fishing in these deep and clear environments? I know to try a sink tip : )
  9. It rides point down. I fish it with a few short hard strips then let it sink. It is not keeled well and on a steady retrieve will ride point down, but with the hard jerky retrieve it may roll to its side adding to the dying shad look. Recipe: Hook- B10s size 1 or 1/0 VMC Extra Wide Gap Offset - testing to see which I like best Rear hook- any shank cut to 3/4-1 inch (After the back half is tied) Back- 1/8 Rabbit strip (Chincilla is shown but white and striped olive are my best producers) Belly- senyo ice dubbing in white but on clump by clump and brushed out Lateral line - two yellow rubber legs and lateral line flash in black over pearl
  10. I fish in a lot of places where there is a shad base. It has been doing exceptionally well.
  11. I tie my murdich minnows with the clear goo dumbell eyes. Never have to worry about them falling off. Another tip is to tie them on extra wide gap offset hooks and turn the dumbells upside down on the hook. Works amazing.
  12. I fly fish indiana for steelhead all winter long. I prefer to indicator fish or swing depending on the water. My number 1 goto fly is a black teeny nymph with a blue bead and small amount of purple flash as a wing. It works. Don't listen about the months of hard fishing without fish. If you know where the steelies are you will catch them. PM me if you need some more ideas.
